Love the DK45S. The loader is also great, recently a problem. The KL451 when it's being raised keeps moving up but I can stop it by merely pulling back on the joy stick. Every other movement (down, tilt, etc. is OK). How do I fix the problem? Any replies greatly appreciated.:)

First, we would like a clarification.

You say you can stop the raising by pulling back on the joystick. Pulling back on the joystick should raise the boom arms, forward on the joystick to lower them.

Just want to make sure you are plugged in properly first.

If you move the joystick all the way in any direction it will engage a detent that holds the sick in that position. I think it's a bad thing, but to someone it must be useful so there it is. Just be careful.

OOPS! Well, this is what happens when a newbie tries to send a message. Good catch. You are right, pulling back on the stick does raise the boomarms. I meant to say if I push forward on the stick the bucket will then stop. I never had to do that before so it seems something is amiss.

This may seem like a silly question, but are you saying that when the control lever is released and centered, the boom arms continue to rise?

If so, would think something on the control lever is not adjusted correctly or some linkage is getting loose?

It's a totally mechanical deal, and it's not like a releif valve getting stuck or something of that sort.

Are you saying ... when you are curling the bucket and then push forward on the stick the bucket stops it direction of travel??

Are you sure you are not referring to the "float" position indent which is only on the "forward" boom down position? My KL401 and my previous KL120 both had the float indent which has a purpose but neither had an indent on any of the other three joystick directions. The purpose of the float indent is so you can put the bucket on the ground and have it follow terrain without adjustment. It essentially disengages the boom down force and lets gravity hold the bucket down so the bucket can rise and fall with the terrain.

Now I'll have to go and check. It seems that I found the "feature" by getting my jacket caught on the joystick as I was getting either in or out of the cab. The joystick is mounted on the wheel arch just next to the cab's pillar and I keep getting hung up on it. There is a zinc chromate plated angle thingy that sticks out which is a lock I guess. Never used that.
If there's a float position on the loader I haven't found it. Looking in the owner's manual is no help of course as it reads like a badly translated Chinese restaurant menu.

That is a great post, I have found the detent in the forward position, now Iknow what that is for.
However, I do not know what that lock thing is for, no mention of it in the manual that I can see.

I've never used the lock but I believe it is to allow you to lock the joystick in the neutral position so it cannot accidentally be activated. Truth be told, that is a wild *** guess however as I've never looked it up in the manual.
