a used 2004 GT 3235 - had to swap in a new short block
Hi,
I'll be moving into a 1.3 acre lot and house with a basement walk out (so part of the lawn has a grade) and was wondering if a JD 214 will handle that?

I keep reading that the older entry level tractors are so much better than the new entry level tractors, so I'm asking whether an older tractor is appropriate for this lawn cutting job.

What is a reasonable price and reasonable hours?

Also, would this JD 214 be able to push snow (with a blade) or be suitable for a 2-stage snow blower?

Are 2-stage snow blowers sold new for this tractor? Or do I need to find a used one.

Thanks for your help. The only grass cutting I ever did was as a kid on my Grandpa's 1946 Farmall Cub.

I had a 214 and it was great tractor for the time, it hasn't been made for at least 15 years so buying a new snowblower is probably difficult.
People say the old tractors are better but in what context? The new tractors are quieter, more powerful and the engines last longer. Also the attachments go on and off so much better today.

If you state your budget then people could better advise the "best buy" for you.

Thanks for the feedback and the link!

Ideally I壇 like to spend < $1000 for a tractor with mowing deck and < $500 for a snowblower. But I would add $500 if that meant improving the quality of the tractor.

I hear that today痴 <$2000 tractors have pretty much the same longevity of a few years and that buying a used garden tractor in the <$1500 price range might be a better bet.

The big thing is that I need something reliable for the first year, after that I have time to wrench.
