Newbie Looking for Tractor

Hi folks,

I just found this list and have read a few posts about the in's and out's of these tractors. I'm in the market for what I believe to be the L series although there does seem to be some blending of frame sizes, horsepower, etc. My needs are this:

FEL
Bush Hog
Box Scraper or blade
Maybe a rotortiller

Primary use on a small farm for gardening, cutting the pasture, moving dirt around, tilling and dragging a horse arena, etc.

I'm in inclined to buy more than I need as I always want more later on. Budget is 15k - 20k for tractor and FEL. I am primarily looking at used, although I am not seeing a lot in this range.

Horsepowerwise I'm looking for high 30's to 40 horse or so.

I have found one at a local dealer which has the following properties:

1997 L3600
1025 hours
40 HP
4WD
Factory Cab with AC/Heat
680 Loader
Skid Steer Quick Attach
3 Point
540 PTO
2 rear hydraulic attachments
Grill gaurd
R-4 tires, about 80%
Shuttle Shift?

They want $22.5k for it. Any comments on the price?

I think you could get something a little newer with fewer hours for around the same money. The L3600 was a good tractor, but you should be able to jump up to an L-30 series with a loader for that money. For instance, we currently have an L5030 w/ a loader for around $25500 that is 50 hp and only has around 600 hours and is only 3 years old. Hope this helps.

Welcome Skywagon, sorry no advice on the L series. I'm a B series guy, but there are many L series guys that would love to help you spend your money. I just wanted to welcome you.
