i just found this site today, its a great source of info. i'm looking to purchase a 3720 with a 300CX loader after A LOT of research. however my problem is with interest rates on personal loans being at 9%-15% its tough to buy a used one. so my big question is what would do u guys think buy a used 2005 3720 with a 300cx loader,447 hoe, 5ft brush hog, and 160hrs on it. or a new 2008 with a 300cx loader on it, for the same price of 25k thanx for your time

Depends on how bad you want the hoe and mower. I would guess a new hoe and mower are going to run 7-8K. 160 hours on the 2005 is nothing and I assume the tractor, loader, hoe and mower are in excellent condition but don't have any warranty left. If you plan on buying a hoe and mower, then I would go with the 2005 and look for a little cheaper financing. Credit union, home improvement loan etc. How fast can you pay off the loan?

I would expect the value of the 2008 tractor/loader to be less than the 2005 tractor/loader/hoe/mower combo in another 3 years.

What other features does the 2005 have over the 2008? The 2005 must have at least one rear hydraulic.

he said it does have rear hydralics and an air ride seat, and two buckets for the hoe. as far as the mower goes its a king kutter 5 ft and i really don't need, but it would be nice to have hoe.
as far as paying it off goes, i always like to be as small as possible on monthly payments so i can get ahead. i made triple payments on my new pick up to get done quick, but also just in case i lose my job or something else happens. if all goes well i would take out a 5 year loan and hopefully pay it off in 36 month

The King kutter mower doesn't have a significant value in this deal IMHO. It really is your choice but sometimes it is better to see the real numbers.

$25,000 loan-
At 9% interest for 36 mo, the payment is 794.99 and total interest is 3619.24.
At 9% interest for 60 mo, the payment is 518.96 and total interest is 6137.60
At 15% interest for 36 mo, payment is 866.63 and total interest is 6198.68.
At 15% interest for 60 mo, payment is 594.75 and total interest is 10685.00.

You didn't mention the intended uses for the tractor. JD appears to have 0% - 48 month financing on the 3000 / 4000 series. Do you really need 44hp for ground engaging or PTO work or would a 3320 do the job? The BH and FEL will work pretty much the same in either case as will the 3 pth.

Base on the 3320 is $19879 = eHydro $900 = 19,879 compared to $24,219 for the 3720, so at MSRP that's $4,340

You might check this site http://www.deere.com/en_US/ProductCatalog/GC/series/gc_cut_3000_series.html
and use the "Build Your Own" feature to check various prices & options.

as far as my needs go i wanted a small tractor, with horsepower comparable to my IH 504, and a loader thats small and powerful like my old skidsteer loader. i currently mow about 4.5 hours of lawn a week at my place i have a big finish mower but my 5000lbs+ 504 with R1s is a little heavy for this task. i just don't want to have regrets in being a little short on power, like with brush hogging.

i've been keeping an eye on all of those sites tractorhouse, eqipment locater, local papers, and such. i really screwed up not getting a used 2007 with a belly mower, 300cx and air ride for 20k. i was one day late. i found the 3720 with the hoe on tractor house in VT. its about 5hours away from me. then i found a new 2008 from a dealer new i VA which is 6 hours from me. the dealers around me want 29k after all fees and taxes. if i get one from a dealer i want something thats on the lot, in hopes i would get a little better deal.

With the new machines, I would say a 3320 would be close in most performance categories to the 3720. I have had two 3720's and one 4310. The 4310 torque output was similar to the now 3120. The 3320 has about 8 lb. feet more torque at the same rated speed. My experience with the 3720 was positive. One can definitely tell the extra power is there, but I can say without doubt that it almost has too much power in some cases. It would not pull a box blade any better than the old 4310 did, it could not plow snow much better, although it did maintain speed better on uphills. It did not do loader work better. My only PTO work was mowing, which it did VERY well, but I cannot say it did any better than my 4310 did. Neither machine struggled much with finish mowing. I cannot attest to rotary cutting or heavy field mowing. My only complaint about my 4310 was that it really struggled on my steep hills at my house, especially in high range or during transport work--which I do to excess. The 3720 was clearly better in the higher ranges, but much of my work was not at this level. I feel the 3320 would be notably better than my 4310 in this case. IN my opinion I would seriously think about going with a 3320 v. a 3720 if you bought new, as I would really have a hard time justifying the premium price difference. That said, the 3720 was a powerful machine and did really well. I just wonder if its worth the extra money. I also would say personally I would rather have a new 3320 than a used 3720, unless its a real peach.

Can't decide between 3320 and 3720, go for a 3520!:D

Like Newbie, I am also looking at a 3720. My dealer has a rental return with 133 hours with cx loader for $22370. He said that any rental return with less than 250 hours can be financed as new. Currently that gives me 48 months with zero interest. John Deere prorates the warrenty based on the hours, but the good news is that there is still warrenty.
