First time looking at tractors. Need a little advice.

I am looking at a 2003 Kubota BX22. It comes with the FEL and backhoe. It has turf tires and 360 hours. What is it worth? The owner is asking $11,900.

What should I look for when purchasing a used tractor? Thanks.

I have a BX2200, brother of the BX22. If the overall condition of the unit looks good, and the owner assures you of its condition, it likely is a good unit. 300+ hours is nothing.

To check the price, go to a dealer and price a new BX23 and the same gear. You have to consider cost of financing, as you can get lower % on new than used.

Then make the call.

Looks like that's a BX22LB. Used retail price is around $14K. Used trade-in price is about $11K.

I'd check for leaks from the engine, transmission/PTO and from the FEL and BH hoses. With only 360 hours, there shouldn't be any engine/tranny leaks. Depending on how hard the owner worked the FEL/BH, you may have to replace one or several of the hydraulic hoses.

Also ask to see his service/repair log. He should have been keeping this info for warranty purposes. Check the section in his owner's manual that gives the service interval info and make sure he did the service when it was required.
