I am have been a lurker and just joined. I am shopping and have a local NH dealer that I visited to look at the Boomers and the TC30. I have 10 acres of timber that I need to work on to build a house and a building on in the future. Work includes grading a road to have gravel brought in, clearing trees and brush and eventually mowing. I'd like a FEL, back blade and eventually a belly mower when it comes time to mow.

Of course I'd like to stay as economical as possible, I looked at the green ones as well as a past green owner but I got a quote of 15,700 for a TC30 and a FEL which seems reasonable but I want to make sure that its enough tractor and I am not 'missing anything' by not spending the extra $$ on a boomer except a nicer control layout. I know it doesnt have tilt wheel and other amenities but its not a big issue with me. More worried about function

Thanks!

30hp is fine for that acerage.. but I must point out one thing... CUT's are not great at heavy logging.. and your loader is not a bull dozer.. so take it easy when 'clearing'.

Thanks, yea I understand, I wont be pushing over trees or digging stumps /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I have a buddy that has a stump grinder for that!

its for brush work etc.

Sounds like the 30 has a good reputation on here

I have had my tc30 for a few years now and absolutely love it!! I do regret not getting a bigger tractor just due to more loader lift, and more pto horsepower. It is usually best in my opinion, to buy a little more than you need instead of buying the minimum and then trading it soon after and taking a hit on trade. You won't get that good of a trade in when it comes time to by bigger if you ever decide to. The TC30 has done everything that I've asked of it, and I have been pleasantly surprised on more than one occasion on what this little work horse can do. You can't go wrong with the TC30, but buy all the tractor that you can afford if you feel that you someday may want or need more. Just my 2 cents /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

The TC30 is a great little tractor, almost bullet proof. I use mine mostly for pasture work but ocassionly for some light clearing. If you do decide on it I would recommend the heavy duty bucket for the loader. The company I work for does contract work for our county so I am around there a lot. The county has probably 20 1720's, the predecessor to the TC 30 and they take quite a bit of abuse from indifferent operators, but I can't think of any major breakdowns with any of them. They are serviced regularly- oil, filters, and greased and thats about it. They are slowly being replaced by TC 29's and TC33's and I have noticed that there have been some electical problems with them, although nothing major, mainly safety swiches.
