Newbie in Arkansas

Hi, Everyone! I'm new here and also new to tractors and their use. I just retired to NW Arkansas on a 20 acre farm. We have 7 acres cleared as pasture, garden and home site. I need a tractor and I'm lost. I visited a Kioti dealer today and he recommended a CK30. I'm not sure if it's what I need. I also saw a "package" in Tractor House magazine from another dealer with a Kioti DS3510 tractor, loader & bucket, 5' LMC cutter, 5' box blade and a new 18' dual axle trailer for $17,400. That seems like a great deal to me but with my limited knowledge I just don't know. Any ideas?

How about that! Two welcomes from Washington State and one local! Good luck with your search. Take the time and do the research online, ask lots of questions. Don't let the dealer make up your mind before you have some knowledge under your belt.

Before we bought our Tractor, I spent two years researching and checking out various makes and models at different dealers. In the end, I bought the make and model that best suited, both my present and future needs. Best wishes and Welcome aboard.

I would do lots of research on the tractor needs, as well. I would also consider what dealers are close enough to you, in case you need parts or repairs. Doesn't happen a lot, we hope, with new equipment, but sometimes, adjustments need to be made. Unless you are pretty handy as a mechanic, it could mean a drive, if your dealer is over an hour away.

And, as creekbend mentioned, you should think about now AND future use. It is amazing the projects that one can find to do, when looking for a reason to climb on the tractor!

Well, I took the advice and did some research and visited a few dealers. I thought about what I needed the tractor for and what I could do with it. Finding answers isn't as easy as I thought and advice is worth what it cost for the most part. SO..........in June 2015 I wound up buying a John Deere 1025R along with a 48" roto tiller, bucket and a 52" rotary cutter.

So far all of this stuff has proven to be bullet proof. I have discovered so many more uses for the equipment than I figured and it has certainly made life around here much easier than before it showed up. It seems every day I can find something new to use it for and the project list has grown now that I know the capabilities of it.

I'm very happy with the JD and even though the equipment was pretty expensive I think it was a bargain. The dealer worked with me fairly well in the beginning but has since turned out to be not such a cooperative dealer when trying to buy my 60" mower deck (MMM) . I have been trying to get with a couple JD dealers about a 48" landscape rake but they don't seem interested in making some money. I don't understand why a company has a website, email & telephone and still can't seem to find time to get back with a prospective customer. I thought the object was to SELL their stuff? Maybe it's just this area as most everyone I've contacted for concrete, electrical or bulldozer type work seems to never return calls or makes an appointment to come out to the farm but never shows up. Something in the water in NW Arkansas? Oh, well! The 1025R is awesome.
