Hi. I am a new owner of a 2610D and am extremely happy with the tractor. I bought it with a FEL, brush hog, scraper blade and a back hoe. I have eight acres of wooded land and am in the process of creating access and clearing out dead and downed trees. I am having a problem with the hydraulics. I changed the tyranny fluid with JD303 and now there is a screeching sound coming from the distribution block. The power steering seems to be out as well. Does anybody have any suggestions?

That squeal is most likely hydraulic fluid being diverted through the overpressure relief valve.

First thing to check is the big knob under the front of the seat. Unscrew it all the way to let the hydraulic fluid circulate. Is the 3-point lift lever (rt side of the seat) in the Down position (pointing forward)?

Also there is a slow-descent valve that can choke the hydraulic fluid if it is closed. It's location varies, look first under the left side of the seat. It looks like a tiny faucet with an inch-long lever for the 'knob'. Wide open, the rear implement will fall fast. Nearly closed, slow.

Welcome!

Should I disconnect the back hoe and run the 3-point up and down or can it be left on?

If all this came about with a fluid change let me ask, did you take any quick connects loose anywhere? How is your backhoe hooked up?

Winston brings up an important point: The fluid has to circulate continually so if a quick disconnect is detached, the fluid can't move. This can destroy the pump immediately. Check this first.

Thank you for the quick reply's. I did not disconnect any hoses. The back hoe has it's own reservoir.

Ok then, was everything working correctly before fluid change or were you having problems before fluid change? Is it squealing with the 3 point lift handle in the down position? Is this cylinder assist power steering?

I have opened the 3-point control valve and slow descent and the sequel has stopped. Apparently California was right on. I am hoping that nothing is damaged. Thank you all for the reply's.

As a general rule of thumb, if California or Winston say something, it is true. :D
