They may revoked my Southern'er Card for saying this.....

But I do not like greens. Black eyed peas are OK but I won't go out of my way to eat them.

Corn bread is good but I will be danged if I can make it the way I want.....

I might go make a batch of corn bread if I have the corn meal. I do make it in a cast iron skillet.

Dan,,Oh Dan...Collard Greens cooked for hours with some ham scraps and chopped onion etc. hard to beat...be sure to strip all the stems and cut them up . Black eyed peas need some chopped onions and a little pork for company and good bit on the stove...Ever add chopped cooked bacon to your corn bread ? Yum !

Whew, I just finished a big meal of blackeyed peas with diced ham, whole kernel corn, boiled cabbage, sliced tomatoes, cornbread, and iced tea. Didn't have any "greens" this time. When we lived out in the country, we had plenty of turnip greens, so didn't bother to grow any other kind. However, the nearest neighbors always had plenty of collard greens for all of us, and I liked those, too.

Funny you mention bacon and cornbread. I went to see if we had corn bread mix and we do. While I was looking, the wifey was making some bacon and I was thinking it would be good to put bacon fat into the corn bread....

But alas the wifey cleaned up the kitchen and we ate all of the bacon.

You know what is GOOD. :D

Go buy some Krispy Kreme donut holes......

Cook up some bacon.

Wrap the bacon around the Krispy Kreme donut holes. Plop the bacon wrapped Kripsy Kreme donut in your mouth! YUMMY!:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

No black eyed peas. Did make sure the rice bins were full before we left the states. Didn't fill the rice bins one year... horrible luck all year long. Bought two 50 kilo (120 lbs each) bags of rice when we arrived in the Philippines for New Year... dang, one bag is gone already. Last time we were here, we bought five bags (600 lbs), I thought, who can eat that much rice... probably gone in 3 months. Heck, cats and dogs eat rice here, wife tried to get our cat in the states to eat some rice, he would rather starve to death.
