LS XR4145HC, Kubota BX1800
Hi all, so I recently purchased a used 2017 LS XR4145h cab model, bought it through a dealer(non LS) off FB Marketplace. Shows up looks nice and shiny 174hrs couple little things broken but overall thrilled with it. So not knowing the history on it I popped open the manual and started in on the 50hr service, which I am sure was never done, Air filter, which has an easy access housing but the electrical fitting in front of it makes it a chore to change, was more than a little clogged, just went with new. Had a fun time getting the oil filter off which is not unique from what I understand. Coolant replaced. Hyd filters on order.

So although I have done some dimwitted things along the way, after a lengthy search for the oil fill location I figured I had it and tried my best to twist off the non twist off plug(?) that goes in the odd housing where you add oil(who would of thought it would be a plug and not a threaded oil fill cap) filled it up with 5/40 full synthetic, fresh filter. Take it for a drive, had fun knocking down a bunch of wild olive bushes in our field which are too much for the brush hog, at the end stop to check everything ... no oil plug, ?!?!?!? oil sprayed all over the place.

So searched the driveway etc. where I changed the oil, it is smooth and concrete, nowhere to hide if I forgot to put it back in, that's where it would be. No sign of it.

So during the couple hours I was using it the tractor did a DPF cycle, following the instructions I kept working until it ended, and kept working after that.

So here is my question, could the oil cap get blown off/out during this DPF cycle?

Any suggested source out there sell LS parts online as our local guy is shut down with the state lockdown?

Thanks.

Do a search for a dealer thats open not all are closed, i would bet you forgot to put the plug back in as it is hard to remove. ( my dealer is open in MS)
One other thing when changing the hydraulic filter if you would use your shop vac in the fill port You will only loose the oil in the filter.

Yeah, that oil fill port is kinda odd. But the cap, on my tractor, is tight enough I've never had an issue.
That said, if you've been running your tractor without the cap, I'd stop until you get a replacement or find the one you lost. Also, time for another oil and filter change. Who knows how much dust, dirt, and other foreign debris have blown in there.
