Hi, my name is Brandon and I just bought a brand new XJ2025H with FEL, Poly filled tires, and box scraper. I would welcome any suggestions on modifications and THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR. I am a new tractor owner so this whole thing is going to be a new learning experience. Can't wait for delivery.

I am going to be using the tractor to clear the rest of my 1.75 acres that is mainly treed with alders and brush. My whole property is on a hill so I want to flatten out a couple sections for buildings and animal shelters/pens.

Thank you

Brandon - Congrats on the new tractor and welcome to the forum. I bought a new XJ2025H with FEL and BH back in July and have really enjoyed it.

I've made several posts on this forum trying to document the good and bad experiences I've had along with mods I've done to my tractor. Search for posts under my user name to review, hopefully they will help you.

Things I'd recommend.
1. Negotiate with your dealer and get a copy of the service manual. I was able to negotiate with my dealer to supply me with PDF copies of the service manual and owners manual. I took a thumb drive into the dealer and they loaded them onto it.

2. Read the owners manual. Follow the maintenance/pm recommendations

3. If you don't have one buy a grease gun as you will need to grease your FEL every 10 hours of use. I bought the Lincoln air powered one and have had good luck with it. There are also battery powered grease guns available.

4. If you are going to be trying level sections of your property, You will want to get a piranha tooth bar. Break up the area you wish level with the box blade and then move the soil with the FEL / piranha tooth bar attached to bucket. The XJ's are not really made to do any heavy digging.

5. Enjoy your tractor.

Hope this helps
Jim

Plas62 makes great points. I got the Milwaukee battery electric grease gun (not having a compressor) and greasing is now pleasant instead of an ugly chore. I 2nd the Piranha bar, mine never comes off. Step 5 is the most important step! :) Enjoy.

What are "Poly filled" tires?

Here's a few things to think about.
A couple chain grab hooks welded on the top of the bucket are handy for lifting.
I bolted on a couple D rings to the tractor frame for easier trailer tie down points. (Not needed if you don't need to transport)
Added LED light bars F&R. They are much brighter than factory lights.
Install a fire extinguisher.
QA forks are nice to have.

Congratulations, LS2025King, and welcome to the forum!

Plas62 has a great list there, to which I'll add checking fasteners regularly (wheels and FEL especially).

Congratulations. I was in your exact same position last summer having purchased a xj2025h as my first tractor for my 2.5 acre property. The list already provided above are all great points. I do not have a piranha tooth bar but it is definitely on my list as everyone who has spent the money on one seems to be really happy with it. The only other thing I would add that was beneficial to me was that I did a lot of reading and watched a lot of youtube videos about how to use a box scraper. Understanding how the angle of your box blade and depth of the teeth significantly effect how your box scraper works and what it does for you. My experience was that this little 25 hp tractor simply didn't have enough power to pull my 4 ft box scraper if I was using it incorrectly as the teeth would just bite into the ground and act as an anchor stopping my tractor dead in its tracks. Once I started to learn how my setup worked and what my capabilities were I started to become much more efficient when using by box scraper to either grade an uneven area or do driveway work.

Thank you for all the suggestions and comments. I will definitely be reading, watching, and learning all along the way. I am still waiting on delivery. It is supposed to be on this Monday. I will get pictures. They don't get the tires back from the place that fills them until then. I did contact them about the maintenance manuals and such. Thank you for that tip @Plas62.

I am trying to find out what most people use for a grease gun. I have heard that some people like the manual kind so that you don't add too much grease(just for cleanliness) or too little, but I do understand the convenience of electric. I heard its hard to tell when it is full with electric and you kind of have to wait until its oozing out. Any comments?

@Davrow
Poly Fill, which is also referred to as Foam Fill, is a two part liquid Poly compound. The fill is pumped into a tire, replacing the air inside of the tire; it then is cured for 24 to 48 hours depending on the weather temperature. When cured you will have a Poly filled tire that will not go flat under even the harshest circumstances. It also adds the weight similar to beet juice or water. From the numbers that was quoted to me I was able to add more weight than with water or beet juice.

Thanks, finally figured Poly=Polyurethane. Don't know why I didn't realize right away, I've been following that technology for bicycle tires for years.

Not sure how to respond, that is how I've always decided when there was enough grease, when it came out - usually both ends of any bushing. I will say that my Milwaukee battery gun is very consistent amount of grease for each trigger pull.

So a delay in delivery pictures!!! I read some comments about putting spacers on wheels. (My property is on a hill) I called and had them order the spacers. I settled on 3" spacers on rear. They should receive parts by this Friday so probably wont have pictures until Monday or Tuesday.

All the suggestions sound good. I would second the suggestion to check torque on bolts after a few hours use. My only problem was losing a pin on the loader that came loose. I have slightly over 100 hours on mine now and no complaints
