After spending hours reading grapple posts these past couple of weeks, I finally pulled the trigger on a new 63" rake grapple and pallet forks from US Attachments after reading EddieWalker's post.
I went with the single grapple that is pinned in four locations. Jeff from US Attachments was extremely helpful; When I explained to him that my loader remotes are on the right hand side of the loader frame his response was "not a problem". Thankfully I my loader is equipped with both a skid steer quick attach coupler and a factory installed third function valve. From talking to Jeff and viewing their website I got the sense that they stand by their products.
Its primary purpose is to remove veneer grade logs from my trailer with as little damage as possible to the logs. The tree surgeon that I purchase them from loads from the top making removal from the top much easier. I then move them to and from my stock pile to an area where they are cut into blanks to be turned into bowls.
Like Eddie the forks were too good to pass up - my buddy will be happy as well since I won't be borrowing his any longer.
I realize that many feel a 650lb grapple is too heavy for my L4740HSTC w/ LA854 loader but I have been quite happy using an 850lb root grapple manufactured by Solesbees Equipment (another great company to work with) to move brush, logs and on rare occasion rocks. Honestly, if I need to dig out a rock, I'll use my buddies industrial TBL. As soon as this arrives, the Solesbees will be placed on the market to be sold.
I gave serious attention to Anbo's GR-M 60" at 350lbs but they wanted $3156 plus $250 freight for a total of $3406 for the grapple alone shipped to WI.
US Attachment sold me the grapple $2100, forks $656, plus freight $310 for a total of $3066.
They are going to start building it and it should be here in a couple weeks. Pics to follow upon arrival.
Have a good one,
Rik
