I bought my first tractor last June, a used Ford 3910. I have no documentation at all, but I've recently been told by a visitor to the farm that I needed to change the oil and air filter. Having never done this before, I figure I might need some help to make sure I do it right. I don't even know what kind of oil to buy. I searched the web for help and it keeps bringing me back to this site but after searching through all the old posts, I still don't see anything on this topic for this tractor. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, I bought an I&T manual off of Ebay yesterday, so hopefully it will arrive in a few days.

Do you not have a New Holland dealer nearby? If not, you can buy parts online at messicks.com or you can also buy all filters including the air filters by getting them through your local NAPA auto parts store. Without knowing where you are located, that's about the only advice I can give you.

As for the air filter, you can just remove it and tap it against your had to knock off the excess dust, then blow it out from the inside with compressed air at a moderate pressure (you don't want to damage the filter). The take a look inside the filter housing to check the condition of the inner safety filter which typically last forever. As long as these filter are not damaged or clogged with oily dirt they don't really need to be replaced.

For diesel engines just get a good quality oil bearing an API diesel rating of CJ or better in a 15W40 weight. As posted above any good parts outlet can find the right filter for you.

u should never try and clean the air filters u should change them cleaning them is not good cause over time the paper the filter is made of will dryrot and then u will dush the engine and will have to replace then complete engine cause of the wear to the cylinder walls so would u rather replace a two 50 dollars filters or a 4500 dollars motor
