Tractor
John deere 3032E
Hi guys, I have been contemplated on whether buying a new tractor now or wait until next year. i can do without one until next spring so the question is when would it be a good time to buy one. the sale guys are saying something about "final tier IV" tractors, and it would be more for the next generation machines. does anyone have an opinion on this. thanks

In the case of Deere, I can say having just shopped one that indeed the final tier IV tractors are considerably more expensive than the interim tier IV. Not real sure why, but it is real since every dealer and the Deere web site reflects the price increase as the Interims are no longer manufactured (but there are still some available on dealer lots here and there). So, if you are looking for a Deere that is of any size then buying an Interim Tier 4 model would result in a considerable savings. On a 5085E for example, the savings is about $4500. If you want a brand new one and want an Interim Tier 4 to save considerable dough, it is probably unlikely that any will still be available new on the lot (although there is always used). The tier 4 does not result in anything different on Deere models of lower horsepower so if you are looking for a smaller tractor there may be no difference and there is no point buying now.

Thanks Meyerld, i plan to buy something between 30-40HP range, the guy at Yanmar would sell me an EX3200 with loader for $17500, a JD 3032E would be $18,000. i know that most people would said go with the JD, and i would agreed with them. the only thing is that the Yanmar can have a backhoe as an option, and not on the JD. as far as the JD3032E, it has the same Yanmar engine but a 2 range transmission vs 3 range in the Yanmar.

Most companies raise prices in Nov. for the upcoming year. I'm not familiar with the emission requirements for that HP range. I can say make sure you check out Kubota and massey as well. I had kubotas in the 50 hp range and they were great machines.
