XR4145HC
Got a new XR4145HC delivered last week. Have been using it move snow and right now it has 17 hours on it. Everything was working perfect and then it sputtered and died and displayed codes F11 along with 157. If the tractor sits for a few minutes it will start right back up and drive about 50-75 yards and shut back off, no codes on while the motor is running, only after it dies. I found something about the F11 code that the tractor needs an update, but nothing on the 157 codes, anybody have similar issues or have any ideas, nearest dealer is about 2 hours away so hoping to avoid that.

I think it indicates an issue with the DPS sensors which requires a software patch. Seems to me another forum member had a similar issue with his 4100 series tractor and posted about it. Apparrently there were other 4100 series tractors affected, but was a simple fix.

First off I would call the dealership and inform them of the code fault(s). My own dealership is also a 2 hr drive away, however this should be a free service call, from them to you, to resolve the problem.

Whilst waiting for them to come and correct the fault, I suggest going around your tractor and tightening/torquing every wheel lug nut + anything else that you can tighten... then I would grease every nipple (zerk) and spray lubricate anything else that moves but doesn't have a nipple. Oh, and re-read your Owner Manual just for the fun of it.

If the dealership missed this (hopefully) software update... what else did they miss during their preparation prior to delivery? :scratchchin:

well dont i feel like a dummy, turns out my fuel filter froze up, with the engine not running correctly it through some codes, a little shot of diesel 911 in the filter and fired right up, i always run a diesel additive, usually power service white bottle but i am thinking that i forgot to dump some in the last time, not really sure though, anybody else ever have fuel gelling issues with these tractors

I say this with love..... It's not the tractor's fault your fuel gelled. It's your fault.

911 is a bandaid. Treat your tank of fuel with PS white bottle which also has a lubricant. Treat any fuel that you "plan" to burn in temps under 20F degrees with some type of additive. I prefer PS White Bottle at the rate of 1oz per 3 gallons of diesel. If you are going to operate under 0F degrees, double that rate.

Welcome to TBN!!!

in 24 years of using diesel tractors in north idaho, ive never experienced gelling. we have winter blend diesel up here, and i always use it in winter. i only store 55 gal at a time in my transfer tank, so i dont fill it for winter until the blends arrive. it was minus 6 this morning when i got out to tractor. i had it plugged into warm up transmission oil for several hours (on timer) and tractor fired right up. i always let it idle a bit before use in this super cold weather. I also have never needed any diesel additive. i used it a few times in my truck ...but never in the tractor.

Yes I do realize 911 is a bandaid and I am well aware that the fuel issue was my fault, I always run power service white bottle in all my diesel trucks and equipment, I think I just plain forgot the last time I fueled the tractor, hopefully if someone else has the same issues I did this will help, thanks for everybody's feedback and I am sure i will be around with lots of noobie questions

First tractor - second winter here. Half way down my mile long driveway - tractor quit - fuel jelled @ -20F. Hadn't yet learned about PS. Portable generator - wife's hair dryer and 30 minutes standing in the cold - we were going again. Right back to the garage - buy gallon of PS - drain the tank - mix in PS - run tractor for half an hour to ensure PS is pulled thru entire system. Use PS all the time now - never had another problem.
