New to tractors

New to tractors, we moved out to Texas couple years ago and been remodeling the foreclosure we bought on 5 acres. Well now that the inside is done its time to start on outside things. We have 5 acres, we mow down about 2 acres and leave the rest as field besides some walking paths. We have about 1/3 to 1/2 an acre we are planning to turn into our garden. We are going to start working on getting up some fence to try and keep the deer out of it. Luckily for us the previous owner had brought in good soil to raise the property. Everywhere we have dug so far has almost 2ft of good top soil and my neighbor told me the previous owner use to have a garden in the back and did really well. So I'm trying to keep an eye out for a good deal on a small tractor, I don't want to go over board and buy a much larger tractor than I need and can't really use. But have to save back up from all the remodeling cost or fix up my bucket truck and get it sold so I can buy a nicer tractor than my current budget would allow.

Welcome to TBN & the forum. You can help determining what you need in a tractor by making an all inclusive list of the jobs that you want to do. This will help determine the size tractor and what implement you need first. Wow - 1/3 to 1/2 acre garden - you must be planning on feeding an army. Just the thought of weeding a garden that size makes my back hurt.

When we first moved here in 1982 our first garden was 80 x 120 - about 1/5 of an acre. We were flooded with garden veggies and were still eating the frozen produce two years later. However, I do not want to discourage you - its the right way to start - plan on what you want to do and go from there.
