New to Tractors

I'm very new to this. I have been using a walk behind tiller and digging rows with a shovel.
I'm getting too old for that.

I'm going Sunday to look at a 1950 Ford 8N.

The best I can tell from the small picture is that it looks very clean.

He is also selling a 1947 JD Popper and a 1953 Jubilee tractors.
I have been reading a bunch trying to learn as much as possible before I look at them.

I'll be using it for a small home garden. I'll have a better idea on condition after I look at all of them.

Does anyone have ideas on which would be the best?

Soundguy is the resident expert on Ford tractors, so you might want to check some of his posts if he doesn't show up or post a separate thread in Buying Pricing with the word Ford in it it will probably get his attention. We have a Jubilee and the later Ford 600 and prefer the lower first gear in the later 600 models, I don't care for the 8N personally but some like them. I don't know anything about the John Deere, sorry I couldn't help more.

Welcome Rick. Personally I like the jubilee. It really comes down to condition of the tractors. I would lean towards the Fords direction because of plentiful aftermarket parts. Greetings and welcome to TBN. -Robert

I'm taking a wild guess here on the JD. It is likely an M. If it has a three point hitch it might be ok but they are becoming very collectible. The 8n and Jubilee will have a 3 pt hitch. The Jubilee will be the newest of the three either 53 or 54. In good shape the Jubilee would be my choice of the three for practical purposes. If the JD is an MT, I would love to have it because that was what grandad had.
