Tractor
Hinomoto e224
Hello All,
I am new to tractors I am looking into buying a Hinomoto e224 w/ FEL and found that parts look difficult to find. Is it true Massey fergusion parts will fit these and how difficult is it to match parts? This tractor I am looking at is in great condition minus some body work from being from the 80s but only 426 hours w/ 3 cyl. diesel. everything works on it. Guy wants $5500 What do you all think?

Chris

I'd say be a little cautious. You need a good line or two of places you can get parts. I myself have never heard of that brand. The next thing is, if it goes haywire you may need a place you can take for trouble shooting and repairs. Just my thoughts

Not much it works fine, its just I am wondering from what I read online it looks like parts are hard to find and was wondering if anyone had insight on were to find parts for these models? or what model it may cross over to with massey fergusion?

I might be wrong, but I believe Hinomoto (Japan) went out of business. If so, parts will be more difficult in the future.

Here's a link to an old thread discussing Hinomoto:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/grey-market-tractors/88753-tell-me-about-hinomoto-tractors-2.html

Hinomoto built tractors for others, including Massey but it doesn't look like anything Massey was selling in the US was a direct equivalent to the E224. Massey's 205, 210 and 220 models were made by Toyosha or Hinomoto in the same period (1978-1984), as the Hinomoto was building the E224, but none of them appear to be the same tractor, having 2 cyl. diesels instead of the 3 cyl. in the E224.

The E224 may be a "grey market" model, made for non-US markets and imported into the US privately, without factory support.

Just my opinion, but unless you take enjoyment out of hunting down rare parts for an oddball tractor, you might want to keep looking for something else.

Seems like you could find a kubota of the same vintage for around the same money. That seems high for a grey market.

I wouldn’t buy it. Price seems high for something that old and difficult to find parts for.

Rule of Thumb... if it's a google ghost, you're gonna have a tough time finding parts and service for it...

There's not much out there on it... here's a few at the top of googles search, and two are old TBN threads with no feedback from the posters as to if they ever got help.

There's someone offering parts in that one.

If you're new to tractors, a smaller Asian tractor with a loader and no roll bar (ROPS), is a very dangerous combination. That coupled with the parts problem would be a deal breaker for me.
