new to the hobbie

i have learned a lot already from reading old posts and look forward to learning more about my bran used 1949 8n (my wife thinks its hers, its the only way i could buy it.) any advise on to paint it...or let the natural patina show?

Personally I like a old tractor with decent original paint more so than one that is all dolled up. But it all depends on how bad it looks.

BTW, we love pictures!

If the paint is original and in good shape. A coating of Linseed/ Kerosean makes a good preservative.

i have not painted any of my tractors yet, my 64 cub we are thinking about painting it back to it original yellow and white from the red it has been painted. i am a little Leary on painting because i have never painted anything before and have seen a lot of shabby paint jobs before and know its not an easy thing to do. coating of Linseed/ Kerosene to preserve the old look?? that sounds interesting, how is that done.

Mix them together and apply with a brush. It is quite common thing to do on old flywheel engines and tractors that there is very little paint left on. Keeps them original and prevents the metal from rusting. There is lots about it on the internet.
