Hi all,

Just found this site and its already saved my bacon once so I wanted to hop on and say thanks to all those who participate in it and join in the chorus.

About a month ago I recieved my TC30 and I am absolutely loving life. I have the 4wd hydro model with the front end loader, 60" brush hog and a 72" finishing deck (brush hog and finishing deck from Land Pride).

As I am new to the whole tractor thing (this is my 1st real one) I have just a couple of probably easy questions for you all. If anyone can provide answers, please feel free to chime in.

1) On the maiden voyage, the chain on the bush hog (the one that supposedly is there to keep the plastic cover on the PTO) went flying off into never, never land. I called the dealer and he said I was lucky as he had a guy in the week before who had the chain tear up the plastic gaurd when it flew off.

2) The bush hog came without a dipstick, just a bolt as the plug. All the documentation indicates that it should have a dipstip. I called the dealer and he indicated that they really didn't have a dipstick, you just need to fill it up so you can see the oil. I think he's yanking my chain because the finishing deck has one but I figured you folks would know.

3) This one's just a thank you. About a week ago, when I was putting on the front loader (on not terribly level ground) it shifted and bent up my remote control a bit, no biggy, I'm the only one who will notice and it gives it character. But, yesterday when I went to put the FEL back on, I couldn't get the 2 couplers to connect (Left and Right). I figured I had bent them somehow when remote was bent. I took the couplers off and the male ends appeared to be the problem so I figured I had to get new ones. Fortunately, the shop closes early on Saturdays so I came in and started reading these threads and found it was probably a pressure issue. Sure enough, I went out and tried to pop them on (now that the male ends weren't attached to the hose) and they popped right in. Attached the hose back to them and I was off and running.

Thanks for all the feedback, hopefully I'll be able to add to the community. I know I sure appreciate all the stuff that's out there.

Nice machine, Pete!
I can't comment on the brush hog issues, but TBN is a great place to get answers and support (and ways to spend money). Now and then you have to ignore some bonehead who woke up on the wrong side of the rock, but the people who make up the backbone of membership here are real solid.
Pictures are always in demand. Send reports, even little ones, of your projects and include pictures. You'll be surprised at the kind of helpful commentary (and sometimes impertinent, but hey, good with the bad) that will follow.
I think you made a wise choice in that TC30.

According to the manual, the vent plug/dipstick was in the bag with the operator's manual and should have been installed by the dealer.
I'd wager he left the shipping plug in the gear box.

There are a number of Land Pride cutters that do not have dipsticks. There's a vent plug on top and a level check plug on the side (that's what mine has). To check the level on my cutter, I pull the side plug out and stick a finger in. The oil level is to be to the bottom of the hole.

I guess I understand why the dealer was confused...after all, it would seem one cutter is the same as another. He's probably got dozens of vent plug/dipsticks lying around his shop with no idea what they are...
Anyway, I suggest you check the manual to see if the dipstick is in the same bag. If not, contact your dealer again...

Nice rig, BTW!!!

Here's the funny part, they didn't have the manual for me, they had to print it out. I am guessing that they lost the bag with the manual and the vent plug. I have the print out of the manual and that's fine but figure I would bug them about the vent plug and the dipstick if it makes a difference.

They've been really great to work with otherwise though so I'm sure they will come through for me on replacing...

Thanks for the info.

Pete

pnowacki:

Welcome to TBN :D! Nice rig :), I would have gone with the same tractor if the dealer had had one on his yard. Use it well and safely. Jay
