NEW (to me) L225

[L225]

After reading this wonderful board for months I purchased my new to me tractor about a month ago.

It was supposed to have belonged to a school and had a belly mower on it, which by the way I did not get with it. It still had all the hardware and mounting hardware attached.

I tried to remember everything I had read when I looked at it and rode it around for about an hour. My first time on a tractor. At 50 years old I must say it was a treat to say the least.

I struck a deal which included tractor, new 3pt hitch and new gerenac 5' box. ( see you guys taught me well ) ( I have some diesel experience from working on large yachts for more years than I care to think about )....

I am currently poised to start a new home and shop in the next week or so and thought a tractor would be useful. I have 4 acres in east central Florida and plan to do the cleaning and most of the blade work myself. The tractor has the turff tires on it so it should be a very capable mowing machine after the construction is complete.

I have played with the box blade a little in the yard of my current home to push weeds and light brush along the rear edge of the property and am surprised and pleased with the power. Has more than I think I'll ever need.

The old L225 lives again !!

My new neighbor is seriously considering a L225. I have done a bunch of research the L225's and they seem to be a good value.

Can you tell me any of the particulars about your new tractor?

for example, the hours on it,
general condition,
general impressions,
cost,
limitations?

Congratulations! I'm sure that you will have fun with your "new" toy. I just got a L245. There is still a lot of life in
those older kubotas.

My has 3000 hours on it. Seems like alot but it runs and sounds great. Good oil pressure. ( i installed a guage after the light came on after I got it home. Bad sending unit.)
The condition is good except for some problems with some of the sheet metal. The front lower cowl has had some rust repair and patching. Same with the fenders. Its not terrible so I will use it for a while before any repairs there. I will do a complete rebuild on the sheetmetal once I get moved to the new shop...probibly 6 months or so.
This si my first tractor so I am no expert by any means. But after much research and looking for several months I believe I made the right choice. The unit is extremely well built. I have not tried to order any parts yet as I have not needed them. Between Discount Auto and Tractor Supply I have been able to find all the filters and oil. The oil sending unit that went bad I have not done anything with yet except install the tempory guage from Discount Auto. I will probibly install a tee so I will have a guage and the light. I'll bet a sending unit from a small block chevy will probibly work fine.

If you can snag the 225 and it is in good shap I am sure you would be happy with it.
