I was looking for a new mower when my MTD 20HP/50" started flipping the belt on the deck. Enough headaches with that machine. Anyway I pretty much decided on a Cub 2554 new from the local dealer. I called and they had one at his other store and I told him I'd take it for the $3700 he was asking. I have a Kubota L3130 for real work so a good solid dedicated mower was what I was looking for. The dealer calls back the next day and a guy at the other store sold the last 2554 before he told him it was sold. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif To make matters worse, he called cub cadet to order one and, get this, THEY STOPPED MAKING THEM FOR THE YEAR!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif He said they switched the factory over to snow blowers or something. This seems crazy to me, it's the start of summer, but what do I know.

Anyway, I saw someone on the classifieds here selling a used GT3200 for $4500.00. I called and talked with him and arranged everything. I went and got it on a U-haul trailer. Get this, it is a 2005 with 3.5 hours on it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif He used it once and had the blades re-sharpened and then put it away when his plans fell through to move out of the city. It is like new. I almost doubled the hours on it they day I got it home. Oh yeah, for the $4500 I also got a new 17 cf. cub cadet trailer to pull behind it. I couldn't justify the retail price for the GT3200, but I liked it's features. At $4500 I think I got a great deal!!

The diff lock, hydraulic lift, and power steering make this machine like a Cadillac compared to my old machine. The 9 gauge steel deck and frame should let this thing last for years on my fairly rough, hilly yard to. I couldn't be happier. I got to call and thank the dealer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since it is now more 'used' than when you bought it, I'll take it off your hands for $4200. What do you say? You can keep the cart. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You fell into one heck of a deal! Are you sure the serial numbers are not 'missing'?? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

G/luck

Nope, serial numbers are in tact. In fact I had him give me the numbers before I agreed to buy it. I called my local dealer and had him run a check on it. It was sold at the location and to the person I was dealing with. Everything checked out. He was planning on moving and those plans fell through so he was stuck in the Bronx with a big mower he couldn't use.

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I wouldn't sell it for $6K at this point, especially since I filled it with gas. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have to say you did VERY well on that deal /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Little did that seller realize that with the 60" deck he could have mowed EVERY lawn in the Bronx in 20 minutes flat and had himself one fine business /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have to avoid playing on 3000's or any GT with power steering- it's WAY to tempting! Enjoy your new baby!

You are going to like that tractor! The 2554 would have been nice also but the power steering is really nice as is the hydraulic deck lift. You got a good deal!

So why does the larger GT3200 not use the the highest output motor? I see there is a 27 HP Kohler for the 1500 series, that seems odd. Is there anything about the Kohler Command engine on the GT3200 (25 HP) that makes it special?
