Tractor
Farmtrac 360 TLB
07' 680cc Fuel injected liquid cooled 4x4. Sure is a step up from my old 350cc Rancher.
My only complaint is I wish it was geared lower. No low range. I like the auto tranny for general riding but it lacks the low gearing I'm used to having with the Rancher.

I suppose I'll use the tractor more now. The old Rancher would pull like a mule and haul most anything that would fit on it so the Tractor only came out for the heavy jobs.

I really like the suspension. Rides like a Caddy. Hopefully it holds up like the Rancher did. Certainly lots more to break, time will tell. Top book speed of 67MPh. I don't want to go that fast on a quad.

Nice machine, SLACKER.

I am fixing up a broken 96 FourTrax 300 4x4 as we speak, and I am learning
a lot about what I want in a newer ATV. This one has full-time 4x4, which
I want for some trails I am building.

I recently got a few hours of trail riding in on a Suzuki 700 KingQuad with
4x4 and full AT like yours. It was an impressive ride, but it did not have
a Super-Low gear like my current 85 FourTrax 4x2, or the other Hondas
including the Ranchers, etc. I don't see the value in the higher gears
and the abilility to drive over 50MPH either. Some of these mega-quads
have VERY large tires, too, like 26s. Maybe you can buy smaller ones
to reduce your total reduction ratio?

As I am doing my research, I am finding that ONLY Polaris is offering a
rear differential on a conventional (straddle-saddle) ATV. This really
makes virtually all "ATVs" more like "MTVs" in that they do most terrains,
but not pavement very well. I have a lot of pavement here. Maybe others
know of rear diffs on other conventional ATVs?

It seems that the makers think you only need a rear diff in the side-by-side
ATV/UTV products.

By "rear diff" do you mean solid axle? My Rincon has independent suspension but all the shaft drive quads have a rear diff. If you mean a solid axle then most any utility quad that doesn't list IRS will have a solid axle.
BTW, the full time 4x4 makes it very hard to steer the quad- even more so on pavement.
My full time 4x4 Rancher (2005) manual says not to drive it on pavement for danger of damaging the drivetrain.

ETA: The King quad you mentioned has low range.

Nice looking Honda. Heck I'm impressed with those wheels!

Score!

Ditto on the tractor idea, always a good solution. I lust for one of them NH "Boomers". :licking:

I think I will get a jeep next, then after all my slash piles are gone and all the filberts and stumps are out, I will have the money for a tractor.

Same problem with the new jeeps, no granny gears?

I dono if I could ever part with my 01 Rancher ES, but if I sat on a newer quad it wouldn't be too hard.

No, even the IRS ATVs have a locked rear end, not a differential. They
would need to have brakes on both wheels if they did have diffs.

I agree the full-time 4x4 will make my Honda even tougher than my old
4x2 Honda when it comes to pavement driving (Most Terrain Vehicle!). The
owners manual for either unit says not to even use them on pavement. :-(

I love some of that new technology on the newer ATVs: wet brakes in the
rear, like tractors. Disc brakes in general. Full-auto trannies using torque
converters or CVTs. What I don't like is the $10K price tags. And
250-300 ccs seems plenty engine for utility use.
