Hi all,

Well, I now have a surefire way to keep the snow off my driveway - buy a nice new blade and you can be guarenteed it will not snow for at least two weeks.

Seriously, I recently received the snow blade I ordered from Michigan Iron and Equipment. They did a good job letting me know when the shipping company I used picked up the blade, and the thing arrived well wrapped and with all parts included.

I had ordered the 72" sub frame mount blade, with power angle and power lift. While I know I could have used the FEL frame, I wanted the power angle option without adding more control valves. The sub frame assembly and pivot assembly looks quite substantial.

Reg and I removed the loader and frame, assembled and installed the blade and sub frame, greased appropriately and tidied the hydraulic hoses in about 1.5 hours.

We then took it for a test run, however all we had was hard packed snow. Even then, with a few passes we could break though a hard mound about 1' high and plow a path 6' wide.

Since then we have had about 3"-4" of snow; pictures to follow.

Last Friday we finally had some snow. Like most snowfall around here, it comes with rain for a bit to make sure it is as heavy and unmanageable as possible. This made no difference now.

The blade worked quite well, and I got quite handy as I cleared my driveway, the lane, and the three other driveways on it. There are some "seniors" at the end of the lane who may need quick access this winter and I'm confident that providing that will not be a problem now.

I have to compliment Michigan Iron and Equipment who had no problem putting together an order for shipment out of the U.S., and who also took the time to put in a quick attach plate in the same shipment for Reg for his CK-20S. When you compare to the treatment you might get from some larger companies with call centers doing their "customer service", dealing with a smaller dedicated company is a breath of fresh air.

That is a nice looking setup! That blade looks great on the mighty CK20, how's the traction with those turfs? Are they loaded?

The rear tires are calcium loaded. Honestly, with the exception of one steep part of my neighbour's driveway I never have traction problems.

As for that driveway, well there's always his lawn I can drive over to avoid that steep spot - and I sometimes do. :)

Hi JonKioti,

I told you that you would like that MichiganIron snowplow. Here's another look at the pallet forks they made up for me but the best thing about this job is the way they strengthened my bucket.

Looks like old man winter just might have met his match...nice setup...blade/blower :)
Blade plowing only means more snow removing less cabin fever. ;)

=================

Not too bad for 350 hours on the meter is it deputyrpa. It gets real dirty in Summer but the added benefit of a climate with lots of snow and a blower to snowblast it clean every time it is used can be a big boost to keep a tractor nice and clean.
