Hello all, I haven't posted for awhile (rather read than write) but I thought you guys would like to see the pictures of my new sawmill shed. I have about 90 acres of hunting land that we have built a cabin, garage, and implement shed on in the past 4 years. I got a sawmill to mill the lumber for the implement shed and am now using the sawmill to build a sawmill shed. We started to clear the land for the new shed last Fall and my neighbor leveled it with his dozer. The sawmill is more for a hobby and exercise than a business and as I have a full time job I have not been in a real rush to get the building done.
The first picture shows the area after it was cleared and leveled, I had decided to cut a few more trees that would have been too close to the building after it was finished. The next pictures are of some white pines that I used to make the structural lumber, I had already milled the 6x6 uprights out of Hemlock. The pictures after that are of construction of the building. I hired 4 guys to get it under roof, the work was done in 2 days. As always they did a good job in a short time. My brother in law, neighbors, and myself had poured concrete piers to set the uprights on and I had bolted angle iron to the piers to support the uprights. The last picture is some final grading to get the ground level close to grade level. I need to get a load of stones to finish the grading and then cut some Hemlock trees to make the siding for finishing the building. The mill will now be under roof as that part of the building will not have siding on it anyway.
