New riding lawn mower purchase: 42" cut, 2 Cyl. vs a 24HP Husky with RS800 Trans.
My Husky 42 ' with an excellent B+S platinum engine has a seasonal problem with the worthless RS800 CVT transmission. It requires cleaning the "driver variator" at least twice during the season, otherwise it won't function. This requires removing the gas tank, seat, Etc. just to eye the transmission. This time I have cleaned the applicable parts, but it may not function. The bypass rod in the back, apparently does not release the rear wheels to freewheel? After I calm down I am going to go through the routine again!!! This cleaning repair procedure takes about 2 to 3hours to complete. This transmission should be better guarded to eliminate this accumulation of debris! I contacted Gen T, but no reply?
Mean while my bride is on her annual gardening and landscaping routine and as expected she is not happy with the tractor problem. Locally we have few dealers except for a Home D and Lowes, two local dealer only sell 5K to 7K Deer or Simplicity. The engines of 2 cylinders are no great shakes, but pricy. For 2-3K, there is not much available, Husky a so/so mower still uses the RS800. The Deere and others use the low end Tuff Torque K46 with a 2 cylinder. Cub Cadet upper series maybe be a choice.
Kubota T 2018 could be a possibly but no local dealers and the internet doesn't offer any. No mood for the tractor today, but the Ford Super Duty does need a brake line.
Any ideas, experience /suggestions with a 42" cut, 2 Cyl. replacement?
Thanks, keep healthy!
