2004 Kubota B7510
I have a B7510 Kubota and have just added factory rear hydraulics and purchased a new powerhouse 3pt log splitter. I don't have a huge amount of wood to split but these 67 year old bones are starting to reject the splitting maul. The factory control valve is close centered and I understand from reading posts that I will need to bungee the control lever in order to use the log splitter's control valve. So everything seems to be hooked up correctly on the tractor but how do I know:
- which way to bungee the lever and
- which of the two ports on the rear hydraulics are in and which is out.
Sorry for this amateurish question but the local Kubota dealer wasn't sure and said "just give it a try and see. . . " Now that makes me nervous. I'd appreciate any help - thanks in advance. . .

Your Kubota B7510 is open not closed center. On my M7040 the left hand breakaway has pressure when control lever is moved rearward. You want pressure going into "in port(P)" of splitter valve

Thanks for your help and for clearing up the 'closed centered" mistake I made. But, not being familiar with your terminology, I am thinking "the left hand breakaway has pressure" means this: When I raise the control lever on the Kubota, (rearward), the top quick connection in the picture should have pressure - connected to the "in port" of the splitter. Is that right?

hook the splitter up. Bungie cord the lever the way that will be most convenient in the future and go run the splitter. reverse on the splitter block has a detent to make it hands free. If in that position the piston is moving out of the cylinder, you then reverse the hoses at the quick disconnects. The valve on the tractor does not care which side you use for pressure.

Thanks Dead Horse-didn't know it was that simple just was afraid I could do damage to the hydraulic pump. I appreciate your help.

Just make sure the splitter hoses are connected before you bungee the tractor control in place. This way you don't dead head the pump and cause it problems. A lot of folks just check to see the tractor control is in 'neutral' before they connect or disconnect the hydraulic lines. I always check that the position of the control is in neutral, then shut the tractor off. I am a believer in better safe than sorry.
