I took delivery of our new John Deere 5075E this week. Two wheel drive, a second set of hydraulic remotes, block heater, 5 suitcase weights and weight bracket on front, antifreeze in rears. (16.9 x 28) She weighed, with half tank of fuel 6870lb with me not on it. She dyno'ed 73hp on the pto, add 10 for engine hp. This is a "new" 2013 model full warrenty, never sold. The dealership let me down a couple times. The extra set of hydraulics installed at the dealership was done incorrectly(levers so tight they wouldn't move) They had to be completely removed, inspected, and reinstalled. Different mechanic this time. Works fine now. No operator/owners manual with the tractor when it was delivered, will pick it up Monday. I plan to add a canopy, but I think I can get one at the National Farm Machinery Show(about 30 miles away) cheaper than the dealer. What do I plan to do with it? This will be my general purpose tractor doing most of the chores around and light enough to haul. It doesn't have enough "juice" to pull the planter, work much ground, the grain cart, or round bale in the big fields, but i think it can earn it's keep. So why 2wd? The close out pricing they had on 2013 models did not include any 4WD models(none left). So why the front weights? Most newer tractors I've operated, especially midsized ones, are "short coupled" and rough riding because the front end bounces. The extra weight solved this, plus made this the machine "behave" or handle much better. e.i, I want to turn the tractor with the steering wheel not the brakes when a heavy implement is on the hitch. The block heater, well why not, it was only $100, and it regularly gets below 0 here. More later on, I need to move some more hay today.
