Tractor
JD1010, JD B, TC40A (new)
If I go new it would be TC40A, wide R1's, QA HD bucket, 2 set remotes, 400lb of wheel weights @ approximately $24,000 (0% 4yrs)

If I go used it is 2005 TC45A @ 200 hrs, R4's, QA HD bucket 1 set remotes @ $19,000 plus interest = $21,600. I would replace the R4's with R1's at my local shop for $1000 (maybe I can sell the R4's to recoup some $) This doesn't include loading the tires so that would add about $300 also.

Any warranty? Go used.

Does the $1000 for the R1s include new wheels? Chances are they would have to be replaced as well?

If it does, it is a tough call Ends up being basically $1000 for a new machine and a second set of remotes. Right there is a few hundred $s.

If it doesn't include the wheels and you know for certain that you want the R1s, you would be better off going new.

As Jinman pointed out, the power put to the ground on these machines is going to be the same as the hydrostat relieve valve kicks at the same time on both. So I don't think the 40 vs. 45 is an issue.

Jim, in this case he is talking about gear tractors instead of hydros, so it does make a difference. I think the TC45A is a better deal, but like DocBob pointed out, warranty is an issue. If no warranty, the deal is a "wash" in my estimation. Just roll the dice...

Oooops:eek: , guess that is what I get for reading it at 4:00 in the morning while working on a problem for work. Could have sworn it said DAs.

The 1K is new tires mounted on existing wheels. Your probably correct about needing new wheels for R1's because I was looking this weekend and it has 17.5 x 24 R4's and I believe the wheels are 15" wide. I think the widest you are going to get R1's is 14.9 so there not fitting on the 15" wheels.

Still looking at it real hard because this tractor today set up same as it is now expecting a 16% discount would run you $24,800 and a new TC40A set up equally would be $23,300 at 16% off. This weekend I managed to make a deal where the total would be $19,500 incl. tax. Also found that I read the hours incorrect when I first looked at it, it has 137 hours. Guess I would give the R4's a try before removing them. Wonder if there is a market for tires and wheels that are in excellent shape?

If I'm going to do it I need to seal the deal tomorrow. Still don't know about warranty. The previous owner sold a TC29? with about 400 hours and traded this TC45 in for a new Kubota M7040. It looks practically brand new, only noticed one scratch on the loader arm, floorboards still have all the paint, all the pedals still look new and the loader still has allot of paint on it also.

137 hours?????????????????????? 19.5????? Get some chains for the R4s and you will get the traction you need.

Warranty, that will make the deal.

I'm letting it go. Been doing some more calling around this morning and found out that this tractor was purchased early this spring. However the owner slid it down a bank into the water, didn't roll it but it had to be pulled out. Talked to a NH dealer, not the one that sold it originally, and he knew of the tractor and said it would probably be OK to buy. As far as he knew it didn't take in any water but my fear is maybe the loader is stressed or wheels a little tweaked who knows many things could pop up as a result of it sliding down or being pulled out. He also said that the warranty could be transferred so I would have warranty. Just puts a bad taste in my mouth knowing it slid down a bank into water and had to be pulled up out.

I hear ya.... but as an upshot... if you can get the name of the guy that had it and talk to him... then you can also use that as a bargning point...

1 of 2 deals

1) toss out the slide down the hill story say "and so ill give you 17500 with transfer of remaining warnetee"

(dealer balks)

2) well if your so confident that nothing happened.... then ill pay 18500, with a new full warnentee

(dealer balks)

so you DO think there is something that could become a problem in the next couple of years... i go back to my 17K offer....

(else walk away like your going to do)
