Rumor has it that there will be HEMI Powered Grand Cherokee for 2004. Just doesn't seem right?

A HEMI CUDA
HEMI CHARGER
HEMI SUPER BEE
HEMI JEEP???

Regardless, should be a nice ride and a thrill pulling away from a MACH-1 at a light on wet pavement.

The mach 1 looks nice but i dont like the others. They just look too modern. Id rather have a 92 or 69 camaro or 80's mustang. They just look better

Kevin,

Have you seen the Ford GT40? It's based on the 1960 Lemans racer. Planned introduction is 2003. Cost is unknown. Supercharged 5.4 liter V8, 500hp @ 5250 RPM. 500 ft-lb torque @ 3250 RPM. Four valve cylinder head and dual overhead cam. No three point hitch./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Even without the reintroduction of 'muscle cars', there are quite a few cars available today which would spank all but a few of the cars from the 'good ole days.'

It's hard to think of a six cylinder car as quick, but the BMW M3 is: 13.2 sec @ 106 mph, as reported by Motor Trend. This is quite a bit faster than run-of-the-mill 60's offerings, such as the GTOs, 396 Chevelles, 442s, Camaros, Road Runners, Chargers, GTXs, Mustangs or Firebirds, all of which we tend to remember as 'fast' cars. The 427 'Vettes were faster, but it takes a 2-seat, 427 ci 'Vette from the '60s to beat a 4-door, 195 ci, iron sedan of today.

There are a lot of neat, fast cars available today. Unfortunately, all I can afford to do is read about them.

If you want cheap performance, though, motorcycles are on a whole different level. Suzuki GSX-R 1000: Out of the box, under ten seconds, around ten grand. One of many of this class with similar price and performance.

Yes, I've seen it in person at the North American Autoshow in Detroit. Very fine piece of machinery that's a tribute to the legendary racer.

Unfortunately, I've heard that it's in jeopardy of being "still born" due to budget contraints at the blue oval.

Absolutely agree with you on that, but there is something about those old brutes with all their cubes that warms the heart.

Attached is my performance bargain, 1978 Yamaha 750-XSE.
I have about $850 into it, under 8K miles with many smiles per gallon. It's fast enough for me. Original test results from the old archives show a potential for sub 13 sec quart mile and sub 6 second 0-60 times. Never timed it officially, not that interested... something tells me that the rider makes a big difference.
