New Member... would appreciate your thoughts

Hello ... I'm a new member and have a question for you..
I have a 1970;s ford 5000 Diesel 8 speed manual transmission.
Last spring, one morning had no gears at all with no prior warning(s)
Long story short... Bob replace what he called the the input shaft (gear) with a new one
He said he test drove it and was fine.
When I used it for the first time on Low 3 and reverse there is a high pitch winning noise
He said it's OK and will go away in time.
Only used it for about 2 hours since the repair and noise is still there
He says need more hours.
I feel skeptical but perhaps I should give it time and see how his word pans out.
Appreciate your thoughts
Hope someone out in "Tractor Land" can comment and put my mind at ease

To the forum from Alabama. Back in the day, early 60s, I used to take the 401, 403, etc., from Windsor to Niagara Falls. I always went to the Canadian side as it was 10 times better.

Yes that was the first thing I checked and the tranny is at top level

Shallow Lake is not far from us... we sometimes drive through on the way to Sauble Beach.. as are South of Owen Sound near Dornoch..

Dornoch is a very nice Village, great place for ice cream on a hot summer day.
