2016 JD 3038E
Hello I have read this forum a lot over the last few weeks and appreciate what I've learned so far.

I have a JD 3038E I am wanting to trade in.

I am looking at the Kioti DK4710SE and the Mahindra 3650 HST

1. I am getting a price of 29,340 for the Kioti, plus around 9k for a subframe mount backhoe. So a little over 38k for this package.
2. I got a price of 32k for the 3650 and 10k for the backhoe.

Are these two tractors comparable and are these prices what you would expect?

Edited out the other ?'s as they have been answered. THanks

Any help is appreciated.

In regard to your last question, it has been my experience in trying to trade in used tractors that dealers really don't want them and you will do much, much, much better selling it yourself. If you don't want to do that, many dealers will take your tractor on consignment for a 10% finders fee.

This has been my experience as well.

You may want to look here and compare your tractor:

It's the 3 point hitch mounted backhoes that can damage the tractor. A backhoe on a factory (or well designed home made) subframe should not.

You always do better selling a vehicle yourself. The dealer has to give you wholesale and sell for retail in order to pay for their time and facilities and make a profit. Either way you need to do the research to find out what's an appropriate price.

Thanks guys. I looked at that link and I see 2016 comparable to mine anywhere from 16500 to 21000. I feel good about the 17,500 for mine.

Now I am just looking for opinions on the 3650 Mahindra vs the Kioti for value at the prices quoted and if one machine is noticeably better I would pay the extra 2k. Thanks

Drove a DK4710, MX5200, and the Mahindra 3650 yesterday. Each tractor had features that I preferred. Loved the Cruise on the Mahindra but didn't like the throttle. The seat on the Kubota was bad compared to the other 2. I liked that the kioti has the lever to lower the 3ph while standing behind the tractor. I didn't like that the kioti was the only 1 of the 3 to not have telescoping arms on the 3 pt.

I like the weight and looks of the Mahindra best. It also had the larger loader bucket. I liked the larger flat area of the Kioti where your feet go. I felt the MX5200 instrument panel was pretty blaw.

Overall, I didn't have anything stick out as a reason to get one over the other so it is likely coming down to price. Kubota and Kioti offered me the best trades. The Mahindra dealer was 2500 less on the trade offer. Right now I think I will be going with the Kioti. It is about 5k less. The dealer said he would throw in a block heater. I would like to get the rim protect thrown in, a 6 foot bucket, and telescoping 3pt.

Many here on TBN have a strong preference for the Kioti.
Work that deal until you get it!

Im not so sure dealers dont want them as much as it is economics. Used tractors sell great if priced right, the problem is the dealer has to get them a price where they can turn it and make money which will probably be anywhere from around 25-50% lower than what potential retail used market is getting. The other issue is used tractors have to price right to be competitive with new and 0% etc. Which another problem with used is the market is fake high on them and that is why I dont buy used. Same model tractor that I bought new, in order to make it worth my while used would have had to buy something between 5-10 years old, closer to 10. Why because people are buying 0 zero down and its inflating the value.

Another thing to consider with trading in, is sales tax savings, here its 8% so you can add that amount to what they are giving you. Also with trading it in, its gone out of your hair not your problem and dont have to let it sit in the yard for months. Not saying i am an advocate of trading in, just saying it has its perks.

It seems that using your logic, I would have been smarter to buy a new Kubota L47 TLB at 0% for 60K (with goodies), rather than my 250.9 hour 2006 private owner L48 TLB (with goodies) for $32K cash.
Maybe..... but I don't owe anything, and the 28K difference is still in my bank.
Is a 250 hour Kubota TLB bad because it is almost 14 years old.
I suspect it digs just as well (and it digs 1' deeper) as a brand new L47 TLB.

Maybe I am just too old to figure all this high finance stuff out.

Here is an update.

I purchased the Kioti and have loved it.
The only other tractor I have owned is the 2016 3038e John Deere. It isn't even close on which tractor I like more. I put 200 hours on the JD in 4 years. I have already put 70 hours on the Kioti in a few months.
1. Stability: The JD was always ready to roll on my sloped hills. Rarely did I not have a tire in the air if there was anything in the bucket. The Kioti is much wider and heavier so I haven't ever felt like it was gonna roll.
2. Lift capacity Much better

3. Quick attachments work great. I now have pallet forks which are getting a work out

4. Snow My JD did not get around good in the snow. Many times I had to use the bucket to pull me up minimal inclines. This Kioti gets around really well. It also clears snow much better. Not even comparable.

Negatives: My only negative with the Kioti is it's not geared low enough. Using the box blade or pulling a heavy load it will stall even in low gear rather than spin the tires. The low gear needs to be a little lower.

Also, in high gear it will not do much of an incline. This isn't much of an issue since 2nd gear does great.
So after several months my only complaint/suggestion would be they offer more of a granny gear to turn those tires. I did get the wheel ballast thrown in with my purchase and overall am very happy.
