Just found this site in my search for info on tracktors, this spring I will be purchasing my 1st tracktor. I'm considering either a Kabota or John Deere, but right now Kabota is on the top of my list. I have a good dealer close by.
So many models too choose from, so that is making it a little confusing. Maybe someone here can give me a better idea of the model I should be looking for?

I have a 7 Acre piece of property, mostly fields. I will want to brush hog most of that. Around the house I about 1/2 acre I have grass to cut. Also would like to have a bucket, tiller, and possible some snow equipment since I have a 600 foot driveway. A friend told me I should not get anything smaller than 30hp. The
Kabota dealer that I spoke with is leading me towards a Grand L40 model.

So any pointers would be very helpful.
Thanks

Wrong! L3400 is what you need...trust me on this.

Seriously, with 7acres and you want to use your tractor to finish mow as well, I think the b7800 or b3030 would fit you well. Has the horsed to pull a 5ft. hog, is mid-mount mower capable, and light enough so it won't tear into your grass when cutting.

I have a B7800 that takes care of 11 acres. I finish mow about 4 acres with a 60" finish mower (mid mount) and it does a beautiful job, use a 5' hog for logging roads, fields, and hillsides, 5' box blade, 6' rear blade for snow removal on a 400 foot driveway which takes about 10 minutes to clear, and a nice big front loader that has no problems with anything you would be able to fit in it. Cruise control and easy on fuel. You would probably also be able to go with a B7510 or 7610, but I like the three ranges that mine has.
I am more than happy with my B7800. Good luck.

Turtro who's the Kubota Dealer? I got my BX from Townline in Plainfield...they are awsome to deal with...I haven't had my BX a week yet but I love it. Good luck with your purchase!

You can not go wrong with any of those tractors .I have a Grand L 3130 and love it.I have a 6' finish mower with r4 tires and it does not tear up the grass.
I have 25.5 acres and you need all the tractor you can afford .Remember BIGGER IS BETTER.... :D .Good luck.

Hi Turtro,

When I was in Vermont, I had 10 acres. Finish cut 2-3, brush hogged 5-6 (but only a few times a year), tilled about a half an acre (rotary tiller, had a farmer plow and harrow it first), and use the bucket to move stuff all the time. Also used a rear snow thrower on a 100' driveway.

I had a B2710 and it was enough tractor, but if I'd planned to brush hog those rough acres more than once a month, I might have wanted a slightly larger tractor. My 2710 did fine, but bigger and heavier would have bounced me around less and let me go faster.

I'd agree that the B7800/B3030 size is an ok one, but as I said above, I would go bigger if you're brush hogging 7 acres frequently. I think the Kioti CX is also great, and the CX30/35 might let you brush hog faster. I'm going to be mowing 3 and rough cutting 7 or so, the smallest of the two L40s, and the CK35 are on my short list. Since I'm not buying for several months, I'm enjoying checking everything out again. Really miss my other tractor, but it was a bit much on our current 1.6acres, and paid for a large portion of my kids' piano!

Regards,
Todd

:) Well, I never let brand loyalty prevent me from making an informed decision, however I did learn that there doesn't seem to be a MMM available for the CK30/35 right now. There was, and it's shown in the brochure, but I guess they're going to come up with an improved one or not offer one from now on.

Rules out the Kioti in my opinion for finish mowing, but there's still Deere and NH to look into. And if you don't require a MMM, the CK's and the L3500 are nice.
