Case 530
My parents picked up a Case 530 tractor, data plate says model 31. The frame is red, the tin and implements are yellow. I'm unsure if that means anything about its build. I've never worked on any old tractors, I've mostly stuck with trucks

That'll be the tractor.

We have a slight issue, we have been told that we have the heavy duty front axle but cant find parts for it. I need the front spindle, just so I can have it if my weld does fail, I have faith in my weld though. as long as we dont get excessively rough on the old gal.

we cut the spindle in two, someone else already had and booger welded it back together, I didnt feel bad about it. I ground and welded the shaft back to the spindle assembly. Sorry for the cellphone pictures.

Also, unrelated note, I'm only capable of 1st, and 2nd. Is there a method to it, or is there potential for an actual problem?

Man, you and the guys I've been talking to about a used part are making me feel like I need to jump on that used spindle for $500... One parts lady said the same thing, discontinued.

Be sure to refer to your tractor as a CK 530. The 530 is mostly different.

I'm ignorant when it comes to tractors, as this is obviously my first rodeo with one. Can you elaborate what a CK 530 is vs the 530?

Update: A member found an ebay auction for a spindle, I tried contacting the seller, they did not reply so I gunned for it. It'll be less than $60 for it shipped to my door to find out of it was right or not, but I'd rather get it cheap if it is.

Now off to find a few other things, I'm looking for literature on it. Currently looking for piddly things like fluid type and capacities.
Oh also, dont these bad boys have more than 1 drive range to go with each gear? Seems like 3 and 4 are seized up, or somethings wrong I cant shift to those gears at all.

I double checked, and went to Case Industrial, and Case/IH Agricultural, and came up with these two exploded views of front axles for the 530.

Note the CK has the "L" shaped spindle, and the 530 AG has the yoke type like yours. All other HD axles and spindles for the 530, are like the CK "L" style.

I checked even further, and the spindle like yours also fit the 300 series HD front axle & spindles like on my old 310B.

Your part number for the right side, according to the parts list is G14334.

If the spindle you have coming did in fact come of a 530, and from the right hand side..., it should be the right one.

As for not shifting in 3rd and 4th gears... Being I've had my shift cover off more then several times..., almost sounds like someone has had the cover off, and possibly the shifting forks aren't in the groove. The shifting forks will swing, or turn if you don't watch, when you put the cover back on.

Also, if it has the manual reverser lever on it, don't haunch on it too hard... Although it is splined..., there is only a like an 1/8" roll pin connecting it to the shift lever on the fork. You can normally shift it with your thumb and index finger, they shift that easy... A little ramming, and it will snap... Mine was broken when I got it, and someone had welded the splined part back together..., poorly.. Lasted about 2 days of loading, and broke again.

Thanks to good ole' epay, I found two within two weeks, and got one, and the other for a spare.

CK stands for Construction King. The spindle that you have is the same as a 430 or 530 series with a heavy duty front end, not adjustable. There are always parts on ebay or just look for case CK 530 (specific part) on google. Buy a repair manual off of google for a CK if you can. Go to casetractorparts.com and you can access parts numbers and schematics for most tractors. There are salvage yards that have only parts for old construction equipment. It's not hard but it just takes time.

Sounds like 2 different answers on being CK or AG. Either way the spindle is here, got to unbox it tomorrow and clean it up so I can find out if it will work. I do see however, quickly browsing one parts site says a 530 CK has the adjustable, or L shaped spindle.

I doubt I'll get an answer in an hour before work, but the main supply line that runs the length of the frame, has a weep at the bend closest to the pump. I've got it out and I plan on taking it to work, flushing it out with solvent. I did see it has been brazed before, I'm not very good at brazing since I haven't had much need to practice at it. I was planning on doing a sanitary tig weld though instead. I think that will work since its only 2000 psi system. I've been wrong before though, would it be a bad idea to do a sanitary tig weld or is brazing better? I'm assuming it was brazed because that requires less expensive equipment.

Changed my mind on waiting for tomorrow on the spindle. Appears to be a right hand spindle, but correct for the tractor, good but not quite what I was hoping for :D
