1982 Bolens/Iseki G242
I'm new to this forum and I have a 1982 Iseki/Bolens in pretty good shape; that is, until I rolled it over 2 days ago. Ouch! I have to watch those hills here in Virginia! I wasn't seriously injured and neither was the tractor, but it isn't as pretty as it was. 450 hours on it; great condition!
Looking for a steering wheel and info on adding a ROPS or roll bar. I might also consider adding a front loader if it is cost effective. Interested in all attachments except a snow blower. I have modified the air cleaner housing to accept cheaper and easier to get air filters. Added a larger battery also for winter use.

Hi Kim,

Welcome to the Iseki forum! I bought my roll bar for my Bolens G154 through Just Tractor Parts. They were great to deal with, and the ROPS was very easy to mount. They sell the only certified ROPS for Iseki's in the US, besides one other company that sells the same brand. They are ISO certfied. I had to find a certified ROPS since I was able to buy mine with a ROPS rebate program here in New Hampshire. The good news is Virginia has ROPS rebate program as well. These are the details:
The Virginia Farm Bureau has a ROPS incentive program for its members. The incentive award amount is $400 per ROPS retrofit. To qualify for the incentive, the tractor must be owned by a current member of the Virginia Farm Bureau and must have an approved retrofitted ROPS that was installed by a qualified technician. The tractor cannot have had a ROPS at the time the member purchased it. Click here to be directed to incentive information for Virginia. Rollover Protection They cover $400 towards your ROPS so you would have to pay about $350, but to save your life, it is great insurance. Do you have any photos of your new tractor? Anyways, welcome to the group!

Thanks for the roll bar info and links! I will check them out.
I have some pics of my G242 before the accident, so I may post them later.

Thanks. I may give them each a call. I especially can use the steering wheel right now. It's hard to steer without it. :):D

I was able to use a Yanmar Steering wheel. It most likely is a 36 spline steering wheel. I am not sure if the G242 has a 16 or 18 in wheel, but one like this should work well for you: A & I Replacement Steering Wheel — Fits Ford/New Holland Tractors with 36 Spline Hub, Model# D6NN3600B | Tractor Accessories| Northern Tool + Equipment

Hope that they can get you a Roll Bar. These people should be able to help you track down the right set of certified ROPS: https://www.nycamhoutreach.com/ropsr4u/

This is the one that I bought, and I am extremely happy with it, and it was the perfect match:

Below is a photo of the steering wheel on mine. Hope that you can get it up and running again soon!

NHmitch,
Thanks for the good info! I ordered the steering wheel from Northern, and I'll look into the roll bar. I may get one made and have my fabricator buddies attach it.
Any leads on a good seat with a seat belt?
Kim

I got a steering wheel from Northern Tool but it didn't fit. I ended up beating on mine until it straightened out enough to work for now.
I also struck out on the roll bar from Hercules/Just Tractor Parts. They don't have one that fits my G242/TS2220, so I'm planning on having one fabricated locally. I'll probably have them make it stronger than it needs to be, just in case I decide to roll it over again.
Thanks for the leads and suggestions!
Kim
