Hello folks.
New here. I'm running a JD 445 w/ 2100 Hrs on the meter, 60 inch deck on 7.5 acres. In the market for a new/good used unit to upgrade possibly in the subcompact tractor range, 22 to 28 hp with belly mower (best cut I can get), and a front end plow for snow/grading and if I'm lucky a front end loader that is easy to remove. I mow roughly five acres and leave the rest grow for the deer and bunnies. I'd like an inexpensive "brush hog" to trim the uncut areas once or twice a year. Love to have a diesel but would settle for gasoline engine is the deal was right and the hours were low. Former golf course superintendent so I like to stripe the lawn. I may consider a Ventrac but am up in the air right now and a traditional tractor guy in general. A lot of different brands out there to consider, almost too much info to process at this point of the search and I need to whittle it down as to reliability, service locally (JD, New Holland, Kubota, Ventrac, Mahindra , Massey Ferguson all in the area). P.S. Ran a Massey Harris 44 or 45 on the farm as a youngster. I have back/neck problems and difficulty getting up/under equipment for hooking up, maintenance and repairs these days so the JD auto connect mower deck sure looks sweet right now. I'd jump at a 72 inch deck if it was available to reduce my time on the seat and back issues post mowing and plowing.
Thanks for this forum, it is exactly what I was searching for and I'll need some time to grasp all the info and how to discover it on a site this large. Excellent resource, good job.
