Tractor
Branson 3820i
Hi All,

I have been reading and researching on here for about a year and just got my first Tractor.

It is a 2007 Branson 3820i (can anyone tell me what the i means) 345 hours with FEL and 5' Kodiak Brush cutter.

I have been interested in the customization and build it yourself threads and cant wait to apply some of the ideas to mine.

To the TBN forum Sawman. Glad that you finally joined with us. Mostly it appears that the "I" is to distinguish it from the earlier model 3820 which had a smaller engine and a little less weight as per tractordata.com .

It seems your question has already been answered :) but I'm going to move this thread over to our Branson section in case you have any more.

Notably, the "I" came with a single stage dry clutch for travel and a wet PTO clutch system that engaged with a switch that operated a solenoid that engaged hydraulic pressure to a pack of wet clutches. Before that the independent PTO was done with a dual dry clutch. The new system is better. At the same time, the engines went from the Kukje series to the A-series Cummins, and about that time the loaders went from the proprietary Branson quick connect to the skid-steer quick connect. Overall, a pretty good change.

Welcome, Sawman!

The hydraulic PTO clutch is activated by a switch under the ignition switch. The label on my PTO switch was torn when I bought my tractor, and I had no idea how to engage the PTO until "Dave's Tractor" helped me out.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine - I use mine daily for various chores. I have the 3510i, and it's wickedly overpowered with no ballast or weights, even at well over 4,000 lbs.

Now that you have tractor with a FEL, you'll find you have a lot more "friends" now than you thought you had before!
