Landini 4140 HST
Well, it was a long time coming and it was delivered today! :D:D The 4140 is 41 gross hp, with 34 hp at the PTO. I had been shopping and comparing and of course looked at Kubota (B3200), Kioti and Massey, the next 3 closest dealers to me, but all 50 kms away or more. The local dealer (4 kms away) sells Landini and gave me a great deal on a new 2008 model 4140 with HST. The tractor came from the factory with 2 rear remotes, so I had the dealer install hydraulics on the top link and right arm for the box blade.

The package included :

  1. Landini Front End Loader with 72" bucket
  2. Tooth Bar
  3. 6' Orion box blade
  4. 5' rotary cutter
  5. Pat's Easy Change System (not received yet)
  6. 5' tiller (on a ship from Italy - Maschio brand)
  7. Loaded rear tires
  8. 2 bucket hooks
The initial obligatory pics are attached. The hydraulic top cylinder failed immediately upon delivery, so the dealer is sorting that out today, likely will have to order in a new one. My first job will be to try out the rotary cutter on some brush and weeds! Lots of jobs planned, will show some of those later too. First I need some seat time! :)

Nice! I can't say that I've ever seen a Landini in person. Looks good. I do have a Maschio tiller though and it has been great. I see that the hooks on the FEL are located in line with the lift arms (as they should be) but I have to wonder why pin on hooks were used as opposed to weld on hooks. Weld on hooks pretty well cost the same but are made to be welded on rather than pinned on to another link. If ya lived close enough to me I'd cut those pin off hooks off for you and weld hooks on that were designed to be welded on for ya. I think the total cost would be about $12 to do. I know, I know, the odds are that you won't tear those off, but with such a nice tractor it detracts from it with pin on hooks welded on the bucket. BTW, I learned about weld on hooks because I did bend some pin on hooks welded on a guy's 30 hp tractor, so I know if you get at an angle you do have enough power to bend those.

Sorry to be picky, but with such a nice setup using the wrong hooks just sticks out like a sore thumb. If your tractor works anything like the Maschio tiller I have, you have one nice looking and durable setup! Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, i didn't even KNOW about weld-on hooks. If there's any problem I'm sure the dealer will resolve it properly, he's been good to deal with.

Thanks, Harvey! Actually, mine was brought up for me by my dealer from a dealer in the Valley who had a couple of '08's left over. That was good for me! :)

If it is as good as my LS made Farmtrac 360 DTC you will be very pleased, the LS made tractors are extremely tough. Does yours have the Mitsubishi engine?

Yes, it's a Mitsubishi engine. Used it for a couple of hours yesterday, worked great so far!

Very nice tractor. I looked at some of the small Landini's at the NS Ex. Nice machines. We have a Landini dealer in town here but he never brings in the small ones. Only Masseys and Kiotis.

You should have great luck with it, A friend ran (abused) a larger one on his dairy farm for several years without issue. Sadly, Landini's seem to get regularly overlooked by most people when purchasing.

Thanks, Jason, yes, I think it's everything I'll want or need. I was originally intending to buy the smallest one Landini offers here, a 28 gross hp/23 PTO hp unit, but the dealer found me this new '08 for less money, so for me that made up my mind. So far I am trying out the accessories and seeing what kind of slopes it can safely handle, as i have no flat land whatsoever!
