We took delivery of our new L5740 several weeks ago, and have finally been able to put her to use. Due to rain & work, I had not had much of a chance to even sit in the seat. My wife was actually the first to "officially" use it, as she used the FEL to take a 55 gallon trash can to the dumpster!
Well, I finally got to put some serious seat time in last week when I worked the winter ruts out of our driveway with a Preifert box blade. My dad would have been thrilled to see me up in the seat, so to honor him, I plugged Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits I into my iPOD while I scraped by. The tractor seemed to bounce in rhythm to the guitar. It really was a moment of tractor love!
Since then, my wife did an awesome job of spreading 15 tons of gravel over our barn yard. I plunked down a few extra $ for the easy-to-operate HST model just for those situations. She'll probably do the majority of the mowing. Getting a model that was in her comfort zone was a major plus.
We are still on the first tank of diesel, but can't wait to find more excuses to burn more!
Pics are of my wife spreading the gravel while I weeded the garden.
