New L5030 HSTC delivered yesterday ...

First off, a thanks to all on the forum who provided information throughout the month of September that helped me make an informed purchasing decision. I purchased the L5030 HSTC with 853 Loader, HD Quick Attach bucket, woods tooth bar, ATI Grapple kit (installed), and CD/Radio in the CAB. Have been very busy with work /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif so I only have a half hour of use on it. At this point I cannot really say how well it will workout, but it sure does look good /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did you get the factory radio or install an aftermarket yourself?

Factory Radio installed by dealer ... works very well and includes weatherband but I am sure it would be cheaper (w/o loss of quality) to go with an aftermarket as it was $400 from dealer (includes cost of radio, mount kit/spkrs, all installed).

I was quoted $400 too.

Now I am trying to figure out what aftermarket radio to get and how to wire it in!

Looks good. When I got mine a year ago the dealer told me the factory radio was built better to take the vibrations from a tractor and a car radio would be shaken apart in time. Fact or fiction? I went with a factory am/fm for a lot less than $400 but installed it my self.

I did see in some of the docs that it mentions its an anti-vibration unit. I cannot complain about the quality as both the unit and the sound quality seem quite good. $400 was alot, in my opinion, for a radio/cd player but when compared to total cost of machine it was not to relevent. In addition, the likelihood of my wife mowing our field increases 10 fold if she has AC, "filtered" environment, and country music available which makes it worth the cost!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All one has to do to love a cab is mow a few acres after it has been 90-100 degrees for three weeks straight with no rain. Then add 100 percent humidity and you'll appreciate it even more.

This year I mowed 30 acres with an old ford 2000 with the weeds/brush as tall or taller than me on the seat. It was 90 degrees plus and dry as a bone so I was coated with dust/pollen/bugs/debris in minutes. I am actually looking forward to the task next year, AC on, good audio book in cd, and the bugs locked outside /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
