Kubota bx23s
Hello all,
I am a new kubota bx23s owner and I am new to the forums as well. This is my first tractor and I finally decided to get one to help manage my rocky 5 acres here in Rhode Island. I am interested to hear any advice people want to give me on operating/maintaining the machine. Also, I plan to use it wisely and slowly and don't want to "push it" by asking it to do something it just can't. What is some of the best advice you can give me from any experienced owners out there?

You have a good attitude and ideas already. It’s a little tractor but it can do big jobs just a little at a time. As you use it you will get a feel for what and how much it can handle. Listen to the engine and transmission/hydraulics they will let you know when they are getting to the limit. Keep your fluids checked and overall get used to checking the tractor over prior to use. Keep it greased and after hard use let it cool down at idle for a short time, don’t just shut it off. It’s a great tractor and a big investment, take care of it and it will take care of you for many years

thank you for the replies. I plan on learning as much as I can about the use of the tractor before I jump in the deep end. Hoping to learn any great tips from those who are much more experienced than me!:)

New BX23s owner also. First 2 additions to the machine, Bxpanded underarmor and their ripper tooth. I've had a compact tractor for 35 yrs the sub compact BX is awesome.

Check all your fluid levels before each day's work, especially during the first 50 hours. Top up as needed. Follow the maintenance schedule strictly, and don't skimp or cheat the first 50 hr service. Don't operate at full throttle for the first 50 hrs. Always operate your rig with safety in mind. Envision what you are about to do, before you do it. Start slowly, work up as necessary. Always be mindful of FEL & backhoe positions, and loads. Things can go wrong quickly with height & weight. Take some time & read the owners manual.

Enjoy your new rig, and what it can do for you!

Don’t hesitate to run your tractor at full throttle. Diesel engines and hydrostatic transmissions are made to run at the upper end of the RPM range AND at normal operating temperature. Dogging around in the middle of the RPM range is counterproductive and not conducive to long engine or transmission life.

Perhaps you read a little too quickly the first time around: Don't operate at full throttle for the first 50 hrs. ;)
