New John Deere lawn/garden tractors

Am looking at the JD website and trying to compare the new 100 series against the new X series.

I have two acres of pasture type grass I mow twice a year and about a 1/3 acre of yard I mow once a week. I now have a LT 133 but want to speed up the process and am looking at the 190C with a 54 " deck and 25 HP. Its at $3,000 MSRP. Am also browsing the X500 at same HP, 48 inch deck, but at $6000 MSRP. I gather from reading the JD specs that the X500 would have a heavier duty drive train.

Do any of you have any words of wisdom regarding these two tractors. I am 55 and would like to buy one tough enough to last the rest of my tour, ever how long that might be. Do you think the extra 3k would be worth the difference?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I currently have last years model x475. It's 23hp liquid cooled and power steering. I got a 54" deck but 62" was available. I think these models are now x700's. Definately commercial type mower, about 1.5 the size of regular mowers. It will mow at 8mph is the reason I got it. JC

I am looking at upgrading my 318 and the X500 seems to be a good buy, but not inexpensive. Have you found anything more about this mower?
Does JD ever go down on price? Everone seems to be right at list price around here.

Figure out which tractor you want then call around to various dealerships. I have about 7 Deere dealers within a 1 1/2 hour drive of me. My father-in-law is looking at an X540. I called all the dealerships for pricing. Some had free delivery and some charged. Here is where it gets interesting. MSRP for an X540 is $7999. I got prices back anywhere from $7999 to $6899. Yes -- $1100 dollars less from 1 dealer. Guess which one he bought from?? Go ahead and call around to different dealers.

The current X300 SEries replace the old LT, LX Models-

The new X500 Series replace the old GT, GX Models-

The new X700 Series replace the old X400, X500 Series-

I really like the X500's with th eliquid-cooled Kawasaki's-can't go wrong, and will last a long time if cared for -
