Start the new job tomorrow. 5 minutes from home! They even have a lunch room!:cool2: That alone makes it a heck of a lot better than the last garbage dump.;)

It takes me 5-minute to get to the pavement:laughing:. I live 60-miles outside of Seattle, the last job I did in Seattle before retiring I was over seeing the rig up of a derrick in the company's yard just south of the West Seattle bridge. At least three nights a week it would take me over 3-hours to get home:mad:. I've worked in Portland Oregon, and got home sooner!

Gotcha beat Arc Weld. 19 years @ 1/10 mile from home - WALKING. :)

That was great until they moved the plant to the other side of Houston. Then it was 47 miles each way. I think they were trying to tell me something. But I don't listen very well - Worked for 'em another 15 years. But I did move to closer to work after about 3 years of that. Nobody deserves a 47 mile trek trough Houston traffic for 15 years.

Maybe this job will pan out and you can take advantage of the 5 minute scenario for lots of years. Every dog has it's day. Congrats on the new job!

Then I won't tell you that my commute consists of walking down the steps. Now that the summer is here and I don't have to take the kids to school, I don't even have to put clothes on (even though the kids appreciate that I do)! :)

Thanks! The new job was going good until today... I have my own designated computer and everybody seems pretty nice and helpful so far. One outside sales guy, who I haven't met yet, called in an order and was suggesting I could tell him of the previous employers accounts. I have a bit of a problem with that as I wasn't hired to give out information from a previous employer. I think you have to keep some integrity. If I was hired because I had a customer base would be a different story. I was hired for inside sales because of my welding background.

As for today, I couldn't go in to work. I've had a sore throat that was getting worse so went to the Dr. last night. Got a strong prescription for penicillin because I have strep throat. I called in and the one guy said to just take it easy at home because they had a problem a little while ago where someone went in sick and caused more people to get sick. He was aware that strep throat is very contagious. Hopefully the penicillin kicks in soon.
