Hello All,

Well I picked up my 2305 today. I filled up the ballast box with 11 bags of concrete and it feels great! I took it out in the field for a bit to see how it digs and it is quite surprising. It reminds me of a small bobcat when using the FEL. Anyways I will have more to report once I get all the pieces of my box blade.

I do have some question though. I really don't think that the grill guard should be installed the way it is. The bolts are TIGHT and you cannot move it. I am thinking that I should loosen them and use the proper latch. These bolts are nylocks anyways. Also why is the mower deck "coupler" over so far. You can see in one of the pictures that it barely hits the 3 pt arm. While going over a mound the ballast box swung over a bit and I heard a bad SNAP. When the 3 pt swings to the right, the mower coupling lever can fall below the proper level even when it is locked up.

Welcome to TBN. Good luck with your new tractor. Something wrong with your attachments, they wouldn't open for me.

Got the pictures fixed. I actually adjusted the grill guard already, loosened bolts and now it latches properly. I do want to know how other guys mower decks are linked, I am wondering if my "tab" was bent.

That's better. Nice tractor. Looks like a lot of room on the platform, I'm guessing maybe because it's HST?

may i suggest a dolly for the counterweight ,makes it much easier to move around the garage.Looks a very nice machine. Ah that moment when it first arrives on the trailor, the driver leaves and its just you and the machine.

Nice... And congrats!!!

The coupler on my 2305 is the same way. The drawbar turnbuckles are out as far as they go just to fit the 31" drawbar on. One of the threaded ends already backed out and was hanging free when I noticed it. Fortunately, no damage was done. I'm not too happy with needing a 31" drawbar to ensure the lift linkage will raise when I want it to... Especially considering that I just bent the snot out of it skidding a tree. The JD stock drawbar isn't heavy duty!!!

I can echo the need for a dolly with that ballast box. It makes it MUCH easier to get detached/reattached. What size deck do you have?

I have the 62" deck, removed it the first time pretty easily, haven't re-installed yet. Would it be ok to weld an extension tab onto the mower deck coupling? Or possibly bend:eek: it over a bit

bradal,

Nice tractor and nice spread! :) I have a 2210, but I've never had a problem with the MMM tab slipping off. If the turnbuckles are tight and you have a standard width implement or spreader on it, what you describe shouldn't happen. I'd talk to your dealer.

I wouldn't think that welding a tab to it would harm anything, but I'd be leery of trying to bend it. If you snap it off you'll gve more cash to JD than it's probably worth!

Regarding the tab on the left arm: Does it actually bypass the arm when you have the ballast box on? Are you using the spreader bar when the ballast box is off? Your picture looks similar to the way mine is set up. If you don't use the spreader bar, then the arm will swing in and miss the tab - that's normal. As long as the arms are spread properly then you shouldn't have a problem. You may have to tighted up the turnbuckles to keep verything from swinging side-to-side. Mine needed adjustment when I got it. Cheers and welcome to TBN!!
