Is a new idea 5408 worth $3500 its in pretty good shape its an 04 model only thing wrong with it is it needs new blades

I have a mid '90s model 5409 i gave $2,950 for a year ago. It needed new blades and blade bolts and nuts. It has worked great for me so far.

If it is good and tight it should be. The mowers are now sold under the MF name new so parts would not be a problem.

Last April a 7-ft version of the 5408 sold for about $1800. It looked in pretty good shape.

Question: what's the minimum pto hp required to operate the 5408?

40 PTO horsepower to operate the 5408. New Idea figures 5 hp per foot roughly. My 5409 takes 45 but i run it on 43 hp without any problems at all. Good solid mowers and will take a beating.
