Neighbor went to attach a mower to his TN60A, only to find his lift wouldn't lower. Tractor was last used ~2 months ago by farm hand. I brought it to the shop, figuring it was a simple linkage adjustment, but no luck.

Here's the details.

The 3 point hitch is inoperative and in the fully raised position. I moved both control levers to various positions and weighted down lift with no change in lift height/control. Moving SCV levers cause an audible engine strain. The lift-o-matic control cable was loose so I adjusted it, but this caused no change in operation. The draft control lever is very hard to move and seems to only travel half its available distance.

Anyone have any simple suggestions before I spend my day pulling floor panels to remove the top cover? Thanks.

I know this is a dumb question, but do you know if it has a valve that adjusts the speed at which the 3pt will lower? Normally if that valve is closed, it will allow the 3pt to lift, but not lower.

Revisit the lift-o-matic cable adjustment. With the lever locked in, the arm on the lift cover has to be pulled forward enough to let the hitch drop. You can test by simply pushing the arm attached to the rear of the cable in a forward direction.

None that I have seen, neither for the SCVs.

I've tried gradually pushing forward on the lever, but it causes no change.

I visited a friends TN60 to see the quick raise/drop linkage in action. It works very fast with minimal movement of the cable/arm (maybe a 1/2"?).

I did notice the right side stabilizer arm is missing and the arm contacts the tire. I wondered if contact withe the tire lugs may have jammed the lift arms up, but I've tried putting pressure with our loader on the arms with no change.

Removed the distributor valve tonight and found several of the spool valves stuck. Will try cleaning them up tomorrow, reinstall and see what happens.

Cleaning the valves with fine sandpaper solved the problem. All is good! Thanks for the suggestions.
