New Holland TL100A
Hi All,

This is a problem I had not experienced myself on our 2005 New Holland TL100A, my 80yr old father had complained a couple of times that it had "Run away" from him a couple of times on steep mountainous land, at first I put this down to driver error on his part.

However here is the description of the problem.

Driving on Flat ground cutting hay using an 8ft Mower on the back, with Hydraulic Pickup (Blue Lever) to clear the hay rather than the Pick Up arms, driving in 2nd Range, 1st Gear and Tortoise mode at approx 510 PTO Speed.

After a couple of hours the tractor put itself into "Neutral" on it's own accord, and this was displayed on the Dashboard central area. (This is what I think my father did not see, and just complained that the tractor ran away with him, which it would obviously do if it was in neutral on steep ground).

The tractor has electronic clutch packs.

The shuttle lever on the left hand side of the tractor would not re-engage the clutch. Disengaged all Gear Sticks by pressing clutch pedal and putting everything into neutral.

Sometimes when re-engaging gears as described above it would re-engage clutch and drive, and sometimes it would not.

One additional thing, I have noticed, I only have to rest my hand on the gear selector and it goes out of gear... Is there a switch at the base of this that could be faulty?

Anyone have any ideas as the dealer is grasping at straws at the moment (and my Bank Balance...)

Here's hoping

Find a dealer with the technical expetise to efficiently perform routine troubleshooting on the switches and control circuits. An intermittent problem like this isn't easy or fast to find.

When the original Supplying Dealer was original informed of the problem by my father it appears they never even plugged in the laptop to read any error codes from the tractor, and were more interested in selling him a new tractor than trying to diagnose the problem. Not to mention he never supplied a User Manual for the tractor when it was purchased.

Anyhow after my experience and an initial personal message I received from this post, I contacted the dealer and asked them if they had read the error codes out when they had originally been out to see the tractor, they had not, so I got them to come out again.

They turned up without informing us, and left the insepction sheet in the tractor without even coming to the property, it was only by chance that I found the sheet.

In almost unreadable handwriting this is what I think is written:

Error Code : 2083 - Saftey Something Somthing
Error Code : 2043 0- Stick PWM Something

Order Part Needed : 1 X Saftey Switch
1 X PWM Valve

The dealer has not been back in touch since the visit and that was over a month ago now. I have been on vacation and am going to be tackling the dealer tomorrow. If anyone has any more info on these codes, it would be much appreciated as I want to be forearmed when I go into the dealer as the service has been shoddy so far.

Thanks again all.
