new holland tc35
I used my TC35 (weather in the 50s) and turned it off for about 15 minutes. Tried to start it and it wouldn't start. It clicked a little like a low battery then nothing. I have tried it several times and now all I get is a humming for a short time and it stops. The humming coincides with the time that glow plug light should be on for warming. That light is not coming on and I don't ever remember that humming noise before. It has a new battery that I had tested just to make sure that wasn't the problem. I recently had the clutch replaced on it and they forgot to hook up the wire to the glow plug light but they fixed that and it has been working since this failure to start. Before that was fixed the tractor did start fine, just the glow plug light would not come on.
I tried to wiggle wires around in case the contact wasn't good. I have checked my manuals and can not find any help. I am at a loss in what to try next. With the holiday, no service centers are open and I need to get hay out to cows. Any ideas on what to try? Thanks!

Sounds like a relay issue. Might could swap some around to see if it will turn over. Not familiar with the wiring on the TC35 but some of the others will have more ideas.

I suspect either dirty battery terminals or a bad ground. Clean the battery terminals as well as the connectors that attach to them. Make sure your cables are not corroded. Check the ground end of your cable for paint or corrosion preventing good contact with the frame.

The factory battery cables have an issue with internal corrosion within the pressed on terminals. You may have to change the cables or cut them and put on aftermarket terminals.

Have u tried jumping it AT the starter.?? Hook your jumper cables up AT the starter off a "jump box" or another vehicle..
MAKE SURE its in NEUTRAL..
THAT will eliminate any safety switches that might be interfering w/ the starting of your unit.. THEREFORE BE CAREFUL..
I like a jump box because I can hook the red/+ up to the big power wire on the starter & the neg/black to the ear of the starter & I have total control by using the "ON/OFF" switch on the jump box..
Mind u> this is only to bypass the machines battery & key switch & safety devises.. It WILL NOT start the tractor.. You'll need jumper wires on the shut off solenoid & if it has an electric supply pump, jumper wires there also..
Your just trying to narrow down the problem w/ jumping it at the starter..

It is a fairly new battery and cables. I did double check those and the ground. Everything looks good there.

I have a red tractor that is similar (D35) I would bet that your trouble is under/behind the right side panel. There are three relays there. I would take a look there and see if there is anything out of the ordinary and maybe switch some around. Use your wiring diagram as a guide.

Check safety switches at PTO lever, seat, make speed selector is firmly in neutral. All those safe switches present resistance, and will prevent starting/ crankink.
