New Holland TC30 What size finish mower?

I have a TC30 and would like to run a 6' wide 3 point mounted finish mower. Is this too big or do I need a 5'? The engine is 30 hp. HST drive and the rear PTO is rated for 24 hp.

6 ft is the most common for a 30 hp tractor. Ken Sweet

I used a 6-footer behind my TC30 when I had it. Worked fine. I'd consider a 7-footer if your grass isn't terribly thick or tall.

I ran a Woods PRD 7200 behind my NH 1720 for 8 years with no issues...

sweettractors, bspeedy, Turbys_1700, Thanks for the info. I can source a 6' locally from Tractor Supply for $1599. The 5' is $1399. I will get the 6' based on your recommendations. The extra $200. seams like a no brainer. That extra foot should pay for itself rather quickly with less time spent mowing, less time on the engine, less fuel, yada, yada. I have been searching Craigs List for a used one, but the selection is meager at best.

Any chance I (we) can talk you into a good second hand Bush Hog or Woods mower instead?

At least check the parts supply for the TSC mowers. Tell them you have a 15-year-old mower from them and see if parts are available - as a test. I can assure you that Woods and BH will have parts for you many years from now.

bspeedy, Thanks for the offer. I have covered the finish mower acquisition. I found a good used John Deere 6' mower and bought it.

Certainly a good choice. JD is known for their parts availability. Go through that machine carefully and repair anything not up to snuff and I'm sure it will treat you right for many mowing seasons to come.
