New Holland TC 45 DA


Can anyone help???? We have a 57 plate TC 45 DA on hire its been working well until yesterday it was driven across the field, the operator got off to adjust the mower, got back on it and it had lost all it electrics, no ignition lights, won't turn over, no hazard lights totally dead. We have checked everything we can think of, any ideas as we are behind and would like to make most of the weather before it rains again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

It sounds like you have a dead battery,or possibly loose or corroded battery terminals.

Check the fuses, the battery terminals, the battery, and the grounds>

In addition to the battery and terminals, check the main 40A fuse above the starter on the left side of the engine. There's a rubber cover over the fuse.

Thanks all, in the end it was the 40amp fuse so thanks Jim. Fuse looked good when I checked it first, but that was after bale carting till 3 am in the morning. When I checked it today I held it up to the sun and spotted the small break in it. Thanks again.

Tractor01, I'm happy you got your tractor running again. I'm concerned about the 40A fuse being blown though. When a fuse this big blows, it indicates a huge current draw on the electrical system. The 40A main breaker is an overall electrical system protector in case of catastrophic failure. I would not recommend replacement without a thorough check of the system. My hunch is that you have a bad key switch or something wrong with the glow plugs. Every other circuit has its own protection through much smaller value fuses. BTW: The starter motor itself pulls power directly from the battery, so it cannot cause the problem. If the starter solenoid acts up, it will blow fuse #2 before the main fuse. I think you have a problem that will return with the right set of circumstances. Sorry to bring bad news, but I just think you are not completely out of the woods yet. Good luck though.
